Preview: Dong Baek starts a new life with her son in a small town, opening a bar called Camellia. She is being criticized and bullied by her neighbours for the kind of livelihood she is having but that doesn’t stop a few people to admire and respect her. “Gong Hyo Jin’s very charming role so far! Love her looks and acting here.”

Genre: Fantasy, Romance, Thriller, Crime
Stars: Song Seung Hun as Black
Go Ah Ra as Kang Ha Ram
Kim Dong Joon as Oh Man Soo
Lee El as Yoon Soo Wan
Likes: I always wanted to watch something different from the usual romantic comedy so I picked this one without knowing the level of “grim”-ness this drama had to offer. So, what a surprise! I liked it that it went beyond the usual expectations. Of course, it started as something intriguing, sometimes cute, sometimes funny, oftentimes sexy (thanks to the leading man of this drama who was consistently sexy-looking in black suit)!
The drama was at first vague and had lots of disconnected plots. Very confusing! But every new episode shed light to the some few initial confusions in the first episodes. As the drama developed, it gave answers to a lot of questions until all the puzzles were solved. This type of drama, you definitely have to pay close attention to everything. You miss a piece, you won’t be able to solve the puzzle. So, very challenging and therefore a reason to like it.
I also like the consistency on the mood. Although, there were some light moments but the mood was gray, dark and somewhat heavy. As if there was something… something more shocking that is bound to unravel.
A twist-filled story. If you like twists, this one’s for you! I would get shocked all the time something unexpected happens. I was like… “Omo, she actually did that!” or “What, that’s him all the time!” (complete with ghost bumps!). And when you think you’re done with one shocking revelation, there comes another one.
I like the emotional ending, how Black tried to bring closure to everything. Sad moments but good ones! It ain’t called BLACK for nothing!
Comic reliefs were plenty but my favourite are the detectives especially when they tried to reenact the rape scene. That short-legged grandpa got some waxing in no time!!! LOL!
Song Seung Hun as Black – so sexy and handsome in black suit! I don’t think I can top that first statement, lol!
Go Ah Ra as Kang Ha Ram – Go Ah Ra’s acting is always not bad. This type of role: clumsy, a bit ignorant, suits her pretty well.
Dislikes: I like Go Ah Ra as I just mentioned above but she couldn’t always establish a good chemistry with her leading man. All so good with the acting but I always miss that romantic excitement.
All were good with the ending except for this one annoying glitch. I really don’t understand how Black managed to appear in the end after receiving that maximum punishment! Duh! Of course, no further explanation given because it was the very ending.
This drama made it to the Top 15 Kdrama in 2017. Watch video…
Summary: Noh Ji Wook is a prosecutor who lost his position for helping a former lawyer intern, Eun Bong Hee acquitted from her case of killing her boyfriend, son of the District Attorney. The two then work together run a private law firm and get to defend a guy who would be the answer to all puzzles and capturing him would put everything back in place.
Genre: Romantic Comedy, Thriller, Legal
Episodes: 40 (30-min episodes)
Stars: Ji Chang Wook as Noh Ji Wook
Nam Ji Hyun as Eun Bong Hee
Choi Tae Joon as Ji Eun Hyuk
Nara as Cha Yoo Jung
Likes: The genres thrown into this drama are surprisingly complementing each other. The combination of romance, comedy, thriller and legal was well-balanced coming up with a quite satisfying show.
I love that aside from the romance building up between the lead actors, there was some serious legal cases to solve. And I’m not just talking about one but several cases. These independent stories that normally ends each episode kept the whole show interesting. My personal favorite was about that guy who can see the future, who was always in legal trouble by trying stop future crime. He then predicted that 2 people who were present in the lawyer’s office that time will die. I thought that was funny how it freaked out everyone!
We’ve got 4 good-looking leads!
Ji Chang Wook is always a personal favourite. I thought he would be boring as a prosecutor or lawyer but he proved that wrong. Super sexy in his prosecutor outfit! He prosecuted and defended like a pro! And as usual, very irresistible to the ladies! How can you resist the way he stares at you girl?!
Nam Ji Hyun looks pretty although wasn’t really into her coloured hair. Her character was funny and bubbly which match the quite reserved Noh Ji Wook acted by Ji Chang Wook.
Choi Tae Joon was very handsome and cute as Eun Hyuk and I think his chemistry with Nara was excellent even surpassing that of the top leads.
Nara is super sexy. Her face, her body even her acting was natural. She did an awesome job!
I almost cried when Secretary Bang almost died! He was one of those useful and funny side characters together with Byun Young Hee, Ji Wook’s adoptive dad. Na Ji Hae, Bong Hee’s friend from law school also falls into this category.
But I think the star of the show is Kim Hyung Kyu who gave justice to the character of Hyun Soo, our villain in this drama! His acting was just superb that sometimes overshadowing our top leads. Hyun Soo’s character was so well-crafted that any actor who would give justice to him will definitely shine. Therefore a shoutout to Kim Hyung Kyu, boy you did great job in this drama! I won’t be surprised to see you more in the future!
Glad that Hyun Soo’s character already ended in the second to the last episode (Hyun Soo stole too much of the show) and the story concentrated back again with the top leads and how it would end with them. Ji Wook and Bong Hee had enough time at the end to draw everyone’s attention back to their love story. And I think it ended well.
Dislikes: What a waste of Kim Hong Fa in this drama. His character, the District Attorney Jang Moo Young didn’t really show how good he is as an actor. He was super awesome as Kang Yu Taek in Whisper!
Super obvious ad placement by Papa John’s Pizza!
Summary: Ghost agent Kim Sul Woo is on a mission to get all three wooden carvings which each hides a key that will unlock a secret room owned by the deceased chairman of the powerful Songsan Group. To get the first carving, he has to go undercover as the bodyguard of a Hallyu star Yeo Woon Kwang whom later becomes a good and trusted friend.
Genre: Action, Thriller, Romance
Stars: Park Hae Jin as Kim Sul Woo
Kim Min Jung as Cha Do Ha
Park Sung Woong as Yeo Woon Kwang
Yun Jung Hoon as Mo Seung Jae
Chae Jung Ahn as Song Mi Eun
Jung Man Shik as Lee Dong Hyun
Likes: The action part is awesome! It’s like watching old James Bond movies where James was always well-dressed, with lady-killer looks, in perfect form, super wise and quick! Park Hae Jin as Kim Sul Woo, our ghost agent in this drama is just perfect for the role. That face, that stature and that voice, almost like a real agent.
Impressive and heart-stopping action scenes like the car scene, sniper and mission impossible scenes. We’ve got James Bond meet Ethan Hunt kind of scenes here!
Aside from awesome action scenes, this drama is full of bromances. Sul Woo, the agent and Woon Kwang, the actor had a very good chemistry. I love it when Woon Kwang would call Sul Woo, braa derr (with his very Korean accent!). Sul Woo also had a great braa derrs in Lee Dong-hyun, the prosecutor and Jang Tae-ho, his boss.
Missions are challenging, kept me hooked and although the riddles became too complicated to follow sometimes, there was ample amount of comedic reliefs.
A lot of known good actors in this drama so it was hard to guess who the hidden antagonist was. Everyone was great in their roles even the cameos were commendable. Popular cameos here were of Song Joong Ki as a bank teller and Nam Goong Min as an actor. It was hard to miss these 2!
I’m jealous of Cha Do Ha, she’s got 2 reliable oppas! One is a wealthy, famous hallyu star who’s with her at all times and he’s got the hottest NIS ghost agent Sul Woo, who became her life saviour and protector!
I like some of the story twists here like the revelation of Song Mi Eun’s identity (unexpected!) and that of the NIS director. The latter was solved through a riddle (tricky!).
The beauty in this is the closure of all important characters. Our Sul Woo, going back to being a ghost agent but always coming back to his love, Cha Do Ha. Woon Kwang has a bitter sweet ending with his lady love. Song Mi Eun decided to stick with her family. Dong Hyun after a fatal truck attack, recovered and was honored a medal of honor by none-other-than Jang Tae Ho himself, the boss of the mission. And of course those bad guys who deserve jail are really in jail. Yay!
Dislikes: No matter how I see it, after careful observation and consideration (and I was patiently waiting for it to happen!), the chemistry between leads here is just really poor. Sorry but they could have chosen another actress.
Obviously there was no Subway placement but KFC! Obviously, lots of fried chicken in the show!
Summary: Park Kwang Ho, a detective in the 80’s tried to solve a series of murder cases in his hometown but when he was about to catch the culprit in a tunnel where the last murder took place, he was transported 30 years later where he still tried desperately to solve the case with the hope of getting transported back to the past.
Genre: Time-travel, Crime, Thriller
Stars: Choi Jin Hyuk as Park Kwang Ho
Lee Yoo Young as Shin Jae Yi
Yoon Hyun Min as Kim Sun Jae
Like: Another time-travel goodness! This time with some murder cases to be solved. I like the way it started. We got all characters thrown into our faces in the beginning leaving us the question “Who’s who?” We’re trying to speculate who’s the murderer, who’s the child, we came up with some theories, some guesses; am I not right? I like it! The story-line makes us all feel like detectives! It’s very engaging.
I like Choi Jin Hyuk’s more mature role here. I think it suits him well so as the 80’s leather jacket and buggy pants! Although his face looks too polished for the 80’s (he should have avoided facials for a couple of months before taking this role 😉 ), he definitely had the right attitude. Job well done!
Miss profiler aka daughter of our detective hero looked very stiff to the point of being creepy robotic but I ended up liking her. I was always looking forward to her insights when solving cases. And liked her more when she developed some chemistry with Kim Sun Jae, although Sun Jae mostly looked more made up than her (lipgloss!)
The comedy part of the show is a good diversion to its serious genres. Seriously how are you gonna treat a sunbae who looks very maknae in all angles?! Eottoke?
The mystery part was a definite mind-boggler! Lots of questions up until the last episodes. Of course, I was most curious on what’s the 2 murderers killing motives.
Mok Jin Woo – serial murderer hiding in the light, looked totally normal, even sounded very wise, a terrific talker, father-figure, good friend, good listener – fantastic charisma! I was sooo curious what his motive was! The making of the villain for this drama was awesome! The writers put a lot of thought into that role. And of course a big hand of applause to Kim Min Sang for bringing that role into life.
Epic scene when Mok Jin Woo met Jung Ho Young in prison. Here’s a fight between who’s the best and justifiable serial killer.
The way the writers integrate the lessons of Professor Shin Jae Yi at the uni into the real scenerio is I think very educational (that if you paid much attention).
Nerve-wracking final episode. The chase, the bait, the gamble and yes finally, Kim Sun Jae personally handcuffed his mother’s murderer! What a relief but what? Our Park Kwang Ho going back to the past?
Dislike: Park Kwang Ho going back to the past raised lots of very important questions? So would that mean Ji Hye won’t be growing up as an orphan? That would also mean Park Kwang Ho would wait for 30 years to solve the case? Hm, how is this working out? I think it would have been better if he didn’t go back to the past so the story that happens in the future won’t have the possibility of changing. Paradoxes alert here!
Summary: Do Bong Soon possesses super power that is only passed down the women in her family. She has the strength to stop moving vehicles or move heavy obstacles, can crush and bend anything with her bare hands, can fight strong and trained gangsters but doesn’t have the ability to control her powers until she meets Ainsoft CEO, Ahn Min Hyuk. With her desire to work as a game developer at Ainsoft, she takes the offer to be the bodyguard of the CEO.
Genre: Romantic Comedy, Fantasy, Thriller
Stars: Park Bo Young as Do Bong Soon
Park Hyung Sik as Ahn Min Hyuk
Ji Soo as Gook Doo
Likes: What can I say… I like everything in this drama! It’s super fun to watch when the…
- Story is a cute romantic comedy but mixed with some crime-solving mystery. A romantic comedy with Park Hyun Sik is most-awaited but adding a well-thought crime story on the side adds icing on the already-delicious cake!
- Leading man is Park Hyung Sik! I’ve been waiting for him to get the top lead. He’s super charming! And with his previous top performances like in Hwarang, he’d become one of the new anticipated leading men in kdrama. I think the CEO role, Ahn Min Hyuk secured him a place in our heart (at least he’s in mine). I loved his character here, and of course his swagger!
- Leading lady is super cute but not annoying. First time to watch Park Bo Young and I’m loving her! She’s not just cute, she also knows her craft. Do Bong Soon role suits this lady pretty well!
- Chemistry is over the top! Oh my gosh, I was giggling all the time. Our 2 lovebirds were just fun to watch! The sparks were everywhere! I totally love the first kiss on the beach. I thought it would turn out cheesy but it really wasn’t. The piano kiss was also daebak! How about the almost-kiss at Do Bong Soon’s room which got interrupted by her brother, that was super funny! And last but not the least, the wedding kiss!
- Supporting lead is such a waste (in a good way)! Gook Doo oh Gook Doo, why oh why?! Oh well, I bet I’ll see him as lead next.
- Thugs and colleagues are super funny! I just couldn’t stop laughing at everything. Where do I start… the gangster boss who always tried to look bossy but drank the poo wine or one of his subordinates who first got beaten up by Bong Soon, then got beaten up by Gook Do then got beaten up again losing his teeth and breaking most parts of the body. How about the office with the always awkward secretary Gong but I think nothing beats Dong-Pyung, he was the best!
- Dong-Pyung kills it! Yes he did and for that I have to give the best actor award in this drama to this guy (which real actor name, I don’t know haha). And he even did 2 roles, the other one is the “beaten-up thug”. He did awesome!
- Villain is super handsome! Yes he is and he can even pass as a model with that physique and well-chiseled face but well, he opted to be an actor, a villain to our super Bong Soon. Surely, everyone will remember him.
- Catching the dangerous villain becomes super fun! I love Do Bong Soon and the boys’ plan in catching the elusive Kim Jang Hyun. With police Gook Do chasing him through ship containers and Min Hyuk following him with a flying drone, and of course Bong Soon moving heavy containers to trap him. Finally, checkmate!
- Pink hoodie becomes a sign of super strength! I bet, I bet… super fans will be wearing the pink hoodie. Love how it represented our petite but strong woman, Do Bong Soon!
- Strong Woman, Do Bong Soon loves Jo In Sung! I so love her for loving my beloved Jo In Sung! It’s funny how she sets her screensaver to Jo In Sung and Min Hyuk would change it to his own photo :). Jealousy so cute!
- OST is as upbeat as the drama! I’m gonna miss Super Power Girl!
- Bonus scenes are cute, funny and over the top! I’ve got to give it to the Romeo and Juliet scene. Lomeo oh Lomeo! Lol!
- Cameos are super funny! Yoon Sang Hyun as Charles Go was I think the best!
- Ending is all what we wanted! What can be better to a proposal under the cherry blossoms but then we still get to see the wedding and when you thought it’s over, here still comes the babies!
Dislikes: I can’t think of any right now. I’m still enjoying it!
Summary: Park Jeong Woo is a Seoul prosecutor who is after one of the twin sons of the chairman of Chamyung group, Cha Min Ho. In order to avoid arrest, Cha Min Ho kills his brother Cha Seon Ho and disguises to live as the latter. With Cha Min Ho’s power and connection, he frames Park Jeong Woo and sends him to prison. While trying to recover his memory in prison, Park Jeong Woo meets inmates who help and join him eventually escape prison to prove his innocence.
Genre: Thriller, Legal
Stars: Ji Sung as Park Jeong Woo
Uhm Ki Joon as Cha Sun Ho / Cha Min Ho
Kwon Yoo Ri as Seo Eun Hye
Oh Chang Suk as Kang Jun Hyuk
Likes: The best thriller drama this year, hands down! Great plot, character-riched story brought to life by awesome actors!
I love the way it started. Park Jeong Woo, already in prison accused of killing his wife and daughter. We don’t know what happened and we’re curious to find out! Villain was always one step ahead, our main guy keeps on forgetting his memory, it was frustrating but little by little we see some hope.
Though our top characters Park Jeong Woo and Cha Min Ho/ Cha Seon Ho are already awesome, I love the fact that the writers also put importance to minor ones. So it wasn’t just the 2 all the time, we get background stories about friend inmates, prison warden and guards, the prosecutors, people connected to Chamyung group, Park Jeong Woo’s in laws, Yeon Hee and her revenge, Seo Eun Hye and her lawyer dream, and how all these minor characters were intricately connected. It was never boring to watch!
Ji Sung is definitely the best choice for this drama. This is his genre. Brilliant already as he always was in his past roles, Ji Sung as Park Jeong Woo shows off his flexibility in acting, changing from a dignified, tough, brave prosecutor to a hopeless death-row prisoner, a determined escapee then at the end back to his confident prosecutor self.
Uhm Ki Joon is a big surprise. He was okay-ish in Dream High 1 but really impressed by him portraying 2 crucial roles in this drama. From Cha Seon Ho, the respectable Chamyung group heir to Cha Min Ho, the psychotic and merciless brother. He delivered really well and a real match to our Ji Sung!
I think the most thrilling part of this drama was the prison break! It was a breathtaking scene.
Funny moments when…
- Cha Min Ho got caught by the lie detector test which he initially suggested.
- Prison inmates dancing to a kpop girl group song.
- Optimus Shin Chul Shik helped Park Jeong Woo
One of the best thrilling instrumental music. Check out Defendant OST.
Character sacrifice to make the story more believable – death of Ji Soo (Park Seong Woo’s wife) and Lee Sung Kyu (inmate).
Male prosecutor, former bff of Park Jeong Woo, Kang Jun Hyuk is prettier than our lady lawyer Seo Eun Hye haha!
Shin Rin Ah portraying the role of Park Ha Yeon, Park Jeong Woo’s daughter is very promising. Watch out for her!
I love the ending! At first I expected to be disappointed that the drama got extended by 2 episodes. This normally doesn’t come out good but it was just enough time to have a proper closure for everyone. The inmates reunion at the end was awesome! Cha Min Ho finally paying for everything that he did. Our Park Jeong Woo, recovering well from his loss and back as a fierce prosecutor – only investigating those their seniors prohibit them to investage. Love the very last scene!
Dislikes: Some obvious ad placement like the car (was it Hyundai?). That was when they did the dumptruck-car chase. And yes Subway again! Lots of subway sandwiches in the drama ;).
There seems to be only one psychiatrist/psychogolist in Korea haha!
Summary: Our surgeon heroine, Yun Joo went into the webtoon world to save the gorgeous and super rich Kang Chul of W webtoon series that her own father created. She was able to return to the real world but would always be summoned back especially when Kang Chul needed her.
Genre: Romance, Melodrama, Thriller, Fantasy
Stars: Lee Jong Suk as Kang Chul
Han Hyo Joo as Oh Yun Joo
Likes: I rarely give a perfect 10 but when I do it’s only given to the best of the best, to the most awesome, to the most heart-pounding, most nerve-wracking, most daebak kdrama I watched. This year, it’s happening again. This is the reason why I keep on watching knowing that one day, I will get to watch another masterpiece. W, this year is no doubt the best kdrama! But what makes it the best?
- the concept – I wouldn’t say it’s unique. Maybe this kind of story already existed in books or manga or comics or music videos (oh yes I know one and that’s the MV of A-ha Take on Me ) but in kdrama, it was my first time to watch it and it was very exciting!
- the worlds – the real colourful world and the fictional black and white comic world which were not so different from each other, well, except for the time.
- the characters – oh oh oh Kang Chul my love, why so handsome?! Yes Kang Chul, the rich, gorgeous guy in the comic has that effect on everyone that even a lady surgeon from the real world would be attracted to. Oh well, he was made that way by his creator, a simply perfect guy. And this perfect antagonist is paired by a pretty surgeon from the real world, Yun Joo who happened to save him when he was wounded and dying. A perfect heroine for our gorgeous hero!
- the actors – I love Lee Jong Suk playing as Kang Chul. His face looks like it just came out of a manga. Han Hyo Joo (though her acting needs more improvement), she is so pretty to pass as our perfect antagonist’s love interest.
- the storyline – great order of events and impressive twists that make every episode full of suspense and totally unpredictable.
- the length – 16-episode long is just perfect. No dragginess, no unnecessary extensions to suit sponsors.
- great villains – what makes a great story is the presence of a great villain and W has 2! First Oh Seong Moo, the creator of the novel W who became the protagonist of his own novel. Second one is Han Cheol, the politician inside the comic who was always after Kang Chul. 2 great actors but I would give the best actor award to Kim Eui Sung who played 2 characters Oh Seong Moo and the killer in webtoon.
- best kissing scenes – yes they were the best kissing scenes. Jong Suk oppa appears to be a great kisser. And I’m glad the writers were so generous to shower us viewers with these super exciting scenes. We’ve witnessed a surprised kiss, romantic, goodbye, hello and a sunset kiss. Thank you, very generous indeed.
- super cool scenes – lots of them! Will mention a few… Kang Chul riding a super hot red car, sad goodbye at the rooftop was even super cool, editing on-going happening in the comic world using the tablet, Kang Chul making it to the real world for the first time and so on and so forth…
- best comical relief – Park Soo Bong, the author’s assistant brought lots of laughters especially whenever he was scared. And Yun Joo’s boss in the hospital Heo Jung Do was also super hilarious even in a bossy way. It was a fantastic idea to mix comedy in a suspense drama. You know, when you’ve got this feeling when everything becomes creepy then our funny guys pop up, what a relief :).
- the OST – lovely songs played throughout the drama. Check out W OST playlist.
- the ending – I love it! It’s a sad-happy ending but I got over the sad part very quickly because of the awesome happy part!
Overall, I’m very much contented. Nothing to ask for, nothing I dislike. Even the promotional ads for KIA wasn’t an eyesore at all. It was the best ad in a kdrama I’ve ever seen. Great integration! Really very well done!
It’s a terrific drama and I highly recommend it to everyone. Enjoy watching!
Summary: A former agent, Baek Shi Yoon who just came out of prison is trying to find out who was responsible for the death of his close friend and colleague while doing their last operation together in Macau. While plotting his revenge he’s become the protector of his current neighborhood and befriended with ex-agents so as with other people who later become a big help to realizing his goal.
Genre: Action, Thriller, Crime, Mystery
Stars: Park Shi Hoo as Baek Shi Yoon
Jo Sung Ha as Im Tae Ho
Lee Soo Hyuk as Choi Chan Gyoo
Kwon Yoo Ri as Bae Jung Yeon
Yoon Tae Young as Yoon Sang Min
Jung Man Shik as Jung Soo Hyuk
Likes: It’s great to see Park Shi Hoo making this successful comeback after his much-talked scandal. Though a bit slim, he looks real good and has a well-toned body to show off. So not too surprised to see him half-naked a lot in this drama.
Packed with great actors! This drama wasn’t just about Park Shi Hoo and his role but also all the other members of the cast who delivered excellent performance to their roles. These following men and their roles basically made up this great drama…
Ahn Suk Hwan as Park Sun Hoo – he’s undoubtedly the best actor here. His role as a sneaky, big-talker boss doesn’t go unnoticed in the first few episodes. His facial expressions are so good, it always wanted me to hit his face ;).
Lee Soo Hyuk as Choi Chan Kyoo – I always thought of him as the handsome vampire in the Scholar Who Walk the Night but seeing Lee Soo Hyuk pulled off his character here is a change of impression. This guy can take any role. Loved seeing him here wearing a police uniform.
Jo Sung Ha as Im Tae Ho – his common policeman role in this drama who’s easily getting swayed by money due family concerns is I think his best performance so far.
Jung Man Shik as Jung Soo Hyuk – big guy, easy, calm and best accessory of the most powerful received the most unfortunate ending.
Yoon Tae Young as Yoon Sang Min – he’s got the face, the over-all look of a handsome villain who can fight! Driven by greed and ambition, his darkest moment was to get rid of his own bestfriend.
The New York Study Group – these powerful, rich, well-dressed and not so bad-looking men are to watchout for. I love the atmosphere when these men are around.
A James Bond and a neighborhood hero theme makes an action-filled drama – lots of action from our very well-dressed former agent. And since our hero is well-dressed, you can expect the villains to be the same. Fighting eye candies! Aja!
Levels of villains! Our hero thinks he’s fighting the right guy only to find out he’s just level 0 and there are more powerful people behind the whole thing. Of course in level 0, our hero can fight using his fists but on a higher level, there’s got to be some politics involved. It’s great to see how our guy gets through all this opponent levels.
The shadow / hero effect! How about wearing those H hats. In the end, everyone looked great wearing one. And if only we could solve problems like that in real life.
Hurrah for epilogue! I get to see Chan Kyoo wearing his police unirform for real. And a confirmation that our original hero didn’t leave us for good.
Dislikes: What was our Hero thinking? Sending the memoirs to mum’s preschool. It’s endangering his mum and all the kids in there. Not so thoughtful.
Writer Bae’s nagging character was getting so annoying. She was worse than the actual girlfriend.
Our hero getting out and back in the hospital. Was that to stretch the show so it could reach its 16th episode?
Summary: After a tragic accident, Choi Eun Sul later known as Oh Cho Rim lost her memory but gained something extra-ordinary in return. Her one eye turned colourful and she could see smell through it. She later crossed paths with the young policeman Choi Moo Gak and helped him solved crime cases using her ability to see smell.
Genre: Fantasy, Romantic Comedy, Thriller
Stars: Yoochun as Choi Moo Gak
Shin Se kyung as Choi Eun Sul / Oh Cho Rim
Nam Goong Min as Kwon Jae Hee
Yoon Jin Seo as Yum Mi
Likes: It’s refreshing to watch something a bit different. I love how they visualize smell… all those cute icons floating in the air :).
Two funny and bubbly main characters are great addition to what’s already an interesting plot. It’s great to see Yoochun doing something funny again. I think it suits him better than doing serious roles. Nothing to dislike about Shin Se Kyung. I think she’s a great actress and she did a good job portraying Oh Cho Rim.
Though I love the 2 main characters, the supporting roles and the actors themselves are no small time. Nam Goong Min is wow in this drama! Watch and you’ll find out why :)! Yoon Jin Seo, I thought I’ve seen that lovely face before. Oh yeah I was right, she was in my favorite “Old Boy”.
I love crime solving stories. It’s no Sherlock Holmes but it’s a good break from my usual kdrama love stories. They put much thought on each murder case which made an episode interesting to watch.
The police force was very entertaining. I like that guy who had a Russian girlfriend. Him saying her name was always cute.
I like how the lives of our 2 main characters entertwined. Sure, it was tragic but these 2 made a way to be together in the end.
Dislikes: There were just scenes that I found silly. Like practicing and performing that skit. Once would have been okay but I think they did it thrice. It was too much!
Some obvious clue that there might still be trouble. Underestimating Nam Goong Min’s creepy character. Of course he’s Kwon Jae Hee, the very handsome, hot, sexy, celebrity chef in the drama. He won’t die that easily.
Summary: Healer is known in the business as the best night courier. Partnered with the best hacker, he was able to finish some difficult jobs including getting the real identity of a young reporter whom he later liked. He pretended to be a reporter himself to be on her side and together with their new boss, a famous newscaster, they work hard to divulge the illegal activities of a group lead by the so called Elder.
Genre: Romance, Action, Thriller
Stars: Ji Chang Wook as Seo Jung Hoo / Healer
Yoo Ji Tae as Kim Moon Ho
Park Min Young as Chae Young Shin
Likes: An action-packed drama with a very good script and under a wing of a good director, just daebak! It reminds
me a lot of City Hunter. Falls on the same action-romance genre and maybe because Ji Chang Wook looks like Lee Min Ho and also because Park Min Young was present.
Enjoyable thrilling scenes make it very addictive. Hard to wait for one week for 2 new episodes but I survived it :).
The outstanding cast! I’ll start with…
Ji Chang Wook – after watching Empress Ki, you’ll definitely ask more from this guy. Tall, handsome and taking the role as Healer makes him one of coolest actor in Korea. From an emperor to a mysterious night courier, his sexiness hasn’t gotten reduced a bit.
Yoo Ji Tae – this tall, handsome and charismatic lad is just all over the screen with his presence. Almost, I said almost upstaging Ji Chang Wook but luckily the scriptwriter didn’t force his character to rival Healer’s. But I would vote for him as the best in winter outfit. Soo good-looking even when covered up.
Park Min Young – I love this girl. She can always pulls off different roles. As the bubbly Chae Young Shin in this drama, she was very natural.
Characters for honorable mention…
Jo Min Ja – our realiable hacker who was always behind our hero
Kim Mook Shik – flawless public figure and loves the way he walks, it shows he’s on top of the hierarchy
Choi Myung Hee – brave lady deserves to be with her child once more
Ki Young Jae (old) – love his facial expression and voice, the original Healer
The chemistry between the leads was top! The 2 look like real sweethearts.
The OST was great but those who watched it would likely miss this song…
It’s a beautiful feeling what we’ve got deep inside
We’ve got a flame that will last forever
Together you and I
Oh my love, I’m all yours
And there will never be another one
Cause I’m internally yours
Ending was great! Concise but precise. The airport scene was just fantastic!
Dislikes: That it has to end! Missing Ji Chang Wook’s pretty face!
Summary: After saving the President of South Korea from an assassination, Han Tae Kyung, a secret agent is finding out more dirty secrets of the people behind the assassination. Together with some others who remained loyal to the President, they’ll all work to have the master mind captured.
Genre: Action, Thriller, Melodrama, Political, Romance, Crime
Stars: Park Yoo Chun as Han Tae Kyung
Son Hyun Joo as Lee Dong Whi
Park Ha Sun as Yoon Bo Won
So Yi Hyun as Lee Cha Young
Choi Won Young as Kim Do Jin
Yoon Je Moon as Shin Kyu Jin
Jang Hyun Sung as Ham Bong Soo
Likes: Great action from the most well-dressed and best looking secret agents in the world. Forget about the agents protecting the American Presidents :), they probably have to work on the fittings of their suits first. This is kdrama afterall, it’s expected and well it’s really fun to watch how well-groomed Korean agents are. From the hair, the suits, the shoes, the casual attire, all perfect! Even when they were laying on the ground dead.
Looks like a big budget with lots of explosions! Makes it more realistic.
Great villain! I’d say so. He was pissing me off big time really. Thanks to the actor, Choi Won Young for doing a great job. His facial expressions were the best.
The President’s face always shows this emotion which I can’t help but sympatize with him. Another great acting!
I love the lady constable, I think she’s beautiful. Her beauty suits with the role. Not so cute, not so pretty.
The ending was quite bloody but glad it ended up nicely.
Dislikes: I like PYC but not in this kind of drama. I hope he’ll do sageuk soon.
A desperate attempt to have a love story between our main agent and the lady constable. Hm, really there’s no need to.
So Yi Hyun as Lee Cha Young is too pretty for the role. It’s soo distracting to have that prettiness working for the secret agency.
The story wasn’t that bad, just having lots of holes. And always what a waste of bombs. Exploding where there’s no one getting hurt.
Summary: 2 people went back in time exactly 14 days before the death of their loved ones. One is a mother who will try to save her daughter from getting murdered and the other one is the brother of a prisoner who’s going to be hung.
Genre: Action, Melodrama, Crime, Thriller, Time-travel
Stars: Lee Bo Young as Kim Soo Hyun
Cho Seung Woo as Ki Dong Chan
Kim Tae Woo as Han Ji Hoon
Jung Gyu Woon as Hyun Woo Jin
Kim Yoo Bin as Han Sa Byul
Likes: I love time-travel, it’s always interesting. So interesting I stopped watching the other drama I was watching with this one to see quickly what would happen in the end.
Every episode is a thrill! New mysteries kept pouring in and you just can’t stop to watch. Great cliffhangers as well!
That emotion throughout the drama that has been successfully carried out so parents like me feel the same thing when losing a child or about to lose one. So moms out there, watch your kids like a hawk!
Best acting goes to Lee Bo Young and Cho Seung Woo! I got to like LBY from I Hear your Voice, she was great in her role as a lawyer. In this drama, she proves to be a great actress by portraying a totally different character, that of a desperate parent trying to save her child. And Cho Seung Woo, what can I say, you’ll love him as an actor but you’ll love him more in his character as Dong Chan! He was great!
Dislikes: I got spoilt watching the great villains of Empress Ki that I found the ones in this drama to be mediocre, not scary at all. Though it took time to know who the perpetrators were, revelation didn’t really make an impact.
It was a pain to watch Jung Gyu Woon act. Pretty face but lacking facial expression, so dull.
There were so many annoying situations in this drama like, why do you keep leaving your daughter with someone if you know she’s gonna die, argh!
I really don’t understand why Dong Chan died?! Yes I think he died (sorry fans). Okay let’s say he really had to die but they could have at least give a good explanation! If the child survived, he really didn’t have a reason to die in the end. Tah no sense at all!
Summary: Park Soo Ha, a high school student is looking for the woman who once helped him put the man who killed his father into jail. He then realized she became a lawyer and went to meet her. With his ability to read people’s mind, he’s trying to protect her from now newly released killer of his dad.
This is another noona-love drama I like. It was good to watch it with You Who Came from the Stars which is (guess what) a noona-love drama as well. It seems to be the trend in 2013 and it gives us (all within noona-age bracket) some hopes. Lol!
Another superpower drama. The other one is alien alright, this one is hearing thoughts!
Lee Bo Young – first time to see her in a drama. She definitely did give justice portraying
Jang Hye Sung. She has a cute and young face which helped me accept the fact she would end up with the young guy :).
Lee Jong Suk – hm definitely a cute guy! But was he too thin? I swear I won’t fit in hos skinny pants!
Yoon Sang Hyun – I like him here. I liked him as Oska in Secret Garden but a lawyer seems to suit him well.
Lee Da Hee – She’s just gorgeous! She always looks very intimidating. And yeah she can also act!
Though the lawyer-theme can become so serious, there were some comical relief that made it easier to watch especially to viewers like me who can’t stand heavy drama. Oh wait, I was actually able to stand them! They were really good heavy drama moments.
I have to mention the cameo of the popular lawyer Choi Yoon of A Gentleman’s Dignity. Love to see him again!
It was a good ending! I like the kiss!
Dislikes: There were some annoying scenes that I didn’t like. It was too stupid for it to happen!
The villain became soo draggy with his intention to kill. But well, we won’t have a drama, right?
