Likes: Honestly, I didn’t expect much but surprised how entertaining this drama actually was! It had a good share of comedic, melodramatic, thrilling and romantic scenes. Forty episode-long (30min/episode) was a good length. It generously covered all important characters. We had a double performance by Lee Da Hae, which I thought was brilliant, but other characters surrounding her got decent exposures as well. I would even say, the top reason I love this is because it’s a character-rich drama. Everyone was important and was brilliant.
So let’s start…
Lee Da Hae as Cha Sun Hee / Cha Do Hee – I love Lee Da Hae in “My Girl” but after that drama, nothing great from her until “Good Witch”. I’m ecstatic for this awesome comeback! She definitely slayed her two characters here. When she does Cha Sun Hee, it’s sooo convincing she’s totally a different person from Cha Do Hee – the voice, the facial expression, the body language! In addition, Sun Hee or Do Hee, she was always looking gorgeous – so tall, slim with flawless skin, looked great in everything that she wore, really just like a Barbie doll! I’m impressed on this brilliant performance and I hope she gets more great projects like this one.
Ryu Soo Young as Song Woo Jin – At first, I wasn’t into him. Too matured-looking. But when the drama progressed, he was becoming more and more handsome. Yes matured but actually really handsome. I love the very traditional and conservative character of Song Woo Jin and how he was well suited to Cha Sun Hee’s character. Brilliant acting as well especially when he was hesitating to marry Cha Do Hee, knowing that his heart beat for someone else. Not to mention, so exceptional-looking in his blue suit and Top Gun sunglasses!
Bae Soo Bin as Bong Chun Dae – the infamous ex-husband of Cha Sun Hee who was lazy and even cheated on her for a long time while they married. Bae Soo Bin, really I’m not surprised, he is a brilliant actor. Seen him in several drama and he’s been always consistently good! Chun Dae is just another great role performed by him. I love the way he would look pitiful and pathetic in this drama. So annoyingly good!
Yoon Se Ah as Oh Tae Ri – the slap Queen! Wow as in wow! Hands down to this lady. She’ll probably bag my best female villain award at the end of the year ;). Yoon Se Ah is about facial expression, she does it with ease. And well she can really slap in this drama.
Geum Bo Ra as Byun Ok Jung – Cha Sun Hee’s super annoying mother-in-law! Like her son, she was super annoyingly-good!
Lee Han Seo as Bong Cho Rong – and last but not the least, the super smart daughter of Cha Sun Hee, Bong Cho Rong! Mature and smart, sometimes even smarter than her mum. This child actress has a long way to go, she’s a natural.
This is one Korean drama that breaks some kdrama taboo so it was surprising however refreshing to watch some scenes especially for a partially romantic comedy drama. Divorce got acceptable, suicide was kind of reasonable and violence was a top show.
A lot of funny scenes throughout the show so prepare to giggle or even laugh hard!
The outfits were all well-fitted on everyone. From the flight attendants uniform to the Hanboks and engagement gowns and dresses. Outfits especially worn by Lee Da Hae and Yoon Se Ah were very fashionable. The two ladies were always looking fantastic!
Apatheia! I have to google that one up! So it refers to a state of mind in which one is not disturbed by the passions. Hm, who says, you don’t learn something from kdramas?
The romance between our top characters Cha Sun Hee and Song Woo Jin was so genuine and beautiful. I love their first kiss, the first date on the beach, the proposal and I’ll include the wedding though incomplete.
And I completely fell in love with the OST No More Tears! … Please no more kiss and no more cry…
Dislike: It might be too much to ask but they could have put more details on the church wedding. Where was the priest or even a minister? Don’t tell me Cho Rong would administer the wedding.
