Likes: I don’t know about the US Suits as I never watched it, but this Korean counterpart is quite good. Although the concept is not original but there’s no denying that it is a good one. Every episode is actually a lawsuit! Seriously, I thought of the suits our hot lawyers here are wearing haha! But yes, a lawsuit and every lawsuit is an interesting one! So we had 16 smaller stories for that! Very satisfying!

I love the cast! I welcome back Jang Dong Gun with open arms! Whew, it’s been 6 years since A Gentleman’s Dignity. I’m glad this gentleman is back and even hotter than he was 6 years ago. Yes, he looked so fine in his suits, well-groomed hair and overall well-rested face. Very handsome hands down! Also the character suits him well – sneaky, competitive, fearless but remains charming and confident. I also love the way he was mentoring his junior. He’d got some tough love with a hint of bromance going on.

As to Park Hyung Sik, he did great as well. Although, next to Jang Dong Gun, he looked like a HS student, he still good looking, in a cute way :). He also looked good in suits and snickers with a backpack and riding a bike on the way to work. I love his well-defined character. Young, simple, makes a lot of mistakes but his brilliant mind compensates for everything. He wasn’t timid. He knew his talent and he was making the best of it. His conversations with his senior were always fun and entertaining.

The rest of the cast is awesome! Everyone did very well!  Honorable mention is Hong Da Ham, the secretary of Atty. Cheo and the annoying-bully-lawyer-turned-ally Chae Geun Shik! Brilliant acting!

The wardrobe in this drama is very well thought off. If you need inspiration for business attire, you can learn a lot from here. The men all looked dashing in their suits and the ladies as well. I specially love the bold colours in the ladies’ outfits.

I love the OST and I miss it since I’ve done watching so for all of you who love it too, here’s Suits OST. And that victory theme is sooo good. Uplifting and everyone always looks good everytime it plays. Here it is… Victory Theme Suits Korea.

It took me a while to warm up to the young loveteam but I ended up liking it anyhow. Was it the kiss? Perhaps. Two kisses was quite generous you know.

My favourite suits (because they sound sooo good and put me in deep thoughts, haha)…

  1. If you wish to swallow a demon, you must swallow its horns too.
  2. The moment you’ll be flying with wing called lie, you won’t be landing.

Ending was good. Though it felt like it will have season two, I’m already good without it. I love the last scene: hot men in a hot car!

Dislikes: Nothing worth mentioning.

My Rating: 8.5 stars! (10 as highest)

while-you-were-sleeping kdramaSummary: Nam Hong Joo dreams a lot about what is going to happen in the future and that includes deaths of people around her including herself. She is trying to prevent such unfortunate events to happen but unsuccessful until she meets Jung Jae Chan, a prosecutor who just moved to her neighbourhood.

Trailer: While You Were Sleeping
Genre: Fantasy, Legal, Romance
Episodes: 32 (35 minute per episode)
Stars: Lee Jong Suk as Jung Jae Chan
Bae Suzy as Nam Hong Joo
Lee Sang Yeob as Lee Yoo Bum
Jung Hae In as Han Woo Tak
Go Sung Hee as Shin Hee Min

Likes: A pretty simple love story turned complex with all the branching stories and twists which are related to one another. Every episode always ended with a surprise twist making it hard to wait for the next one. Every legal case was an own thriving, though short but rich substory. So what was my favourite case-story? I loved Do Hak Young’s case, the guy who was accused of killing the professional archer. It was mind boggling, full of emotions and we’ve got our handsome prosecutor siding with him and the equally handsome police officer defending him.

I like the concept of dreaming the future happenings of someone that once saved your life though it has its consequences. But in the drama, I’m glad they take the consequences in a lighter way like seeing how dirty the person lives when they are alone :).

The melodrama, comedy, fantasy, legal and romance genre-combination in this drama is well-balanced. Not too sad, not too silly, not too unreal, not too serious and not too cheesy. Just right!

The cast. What can I say, this drama is this year’s Lee Jong Suk’s anticipated. I was definitely waiting for it. So of course…

Lee Jong Suk as Jung Jae Chan – our handsome, a bit clumsy, newb prosecutor is here to make your heart ladies, thump :)! Although his prosecutor character is not his best, he still did a great job. As expected his kiss is a talent. I always get carried away when this guy kisses his leading ladies. Suzy you’re sooo lucky! And yes his tear-jerker scenes were excellent!

Bae Suzy as Nam Hong Joo – hm, not a big fan of her but she did her best. I think this is the first more mature role I’ve ever seen of her and I must say, she exerted effort to fulfill it.

Lee Sang Yeob as Lee Yoo Bum – I’m surprised but this guy was brilliant! He’s a natural, a very good actor. He took the role of the sneaky, corrupted lawyer with ease. Hands down! He has a bright future in acting.

Jung Hae In as Han Woo Tak – damn, he’s so fine in uniform! At times handsome, at times cute, brave and smart but unfortunately didn’t get the girl but gives us girls impression, he’s available! Haha!

Kim Won Hae as Choi Dam Dong – honorable mention to this guy who’s always brilliant in every role he takes. He’s a must-watch in Strong Woman Do Bong Soon!

Kim So Hyun cameo – love her! She’s a grown up lady now and a brilliant actress. Short role here but she made an impact.

Kissing scenes! Watching Lee Jong Suk kisses his leading ladies is the icing of his drama cakes. I’m glad there were plenty of icing on this one.

I shouldn’t forget, that green umbrella! It’s been with us viewers from the beginning to end :). A nice, twisty touch!

The bitter-sweet ending. As I mentioned above, it’s a well-balanced drama. The last episode has its share of sadness and happiness. I like how it ended, it was good.

Dislikes: Well, although Suzy tried her best here, I didn’t see much chemistry between her and Lee Jong Suk. In fact, she never established a good one with her leading men in the past as well.

I like how Lee Sang Yeob acted his role but the role itself was quite off. For someone who was smart and intelligent would go down to killing not just another person but his ex-girlfriend to correct his past mistakes, hm…

the night watchman kdramaSummary: Secretly, the old king gathered some men to guard the land from ghosts or evil spirits. These men are called the Night Watchmen! When the King died, the job of the Night Watchmen also ended. Meanwhile, Prince Lee Rin, who can see ghosts and the original heir to the throne found a journal of a Night Watchman. While searching for answers he met Do Ha and Jo Sang Hun, a former Nightwatchman.

Genre: Period, Fantasy, Romance, Action
Episodes: 24
Stars: Jung Il Woo as Lee Rin
Go Sung Hee as Do Ha
Jung Yoon Ho as Moo Suk
Seo Ye Ji as Park Soo Ryun

Likes: I love the historic setting and the ghost theme of this drama. It was fun to watch something different for a while. The beginning was that big battle between the old King and the water Dragon which was about to attack a helpless lady Shaman. Pulling a Genghis Khan attack, the King shot the Dragon with an arrow putting the latter to sleep. Great scene, great start!

It’s good to watch Jung Il Woo again! That nose, that chin, that face!

An idol in the house in the person Jung Yoon Ho of TVXQ. Surprised by his acting, not bad.

Seo Ye Ji, a promising young actress. I’ll watch out for this lady.

Favorite comical reliefs: the friendly ghosts who were following prince Lee Rin and the Inn hostess who had a crush
on the blacksmith. They made the show not so dark and grimmy.

And not to forget Sadam. You’ll never forget his face after watching the whole drama. Great villain.

Dislikes: Go Sung Hee, sorry but she was just really bad in acting. I tried to ignore it in the beginning hoping she would get better in the later episodes but dang she was so consistent! Her poor acting didn’t help with improving the chemistry between her and Jung Il Woo making the ending so awkward. Supposed to be a special moment, a reunion of 2 important characters that just didn’t appeal at all to me.

My Rating: 7.5 stars! (10 as highest)
