Likes: The era. Set in the Joseon era but made brighter and less serious especially by the presence of a marriage agency that was run by flower boys! Were they really existing or were they not? It doesn’t matter, having this as the center topic of a drama was a sure hit. I’m just impressed on how the writers made single marriage cases fitted on that time frame. Some were serious and some were not but again it doesn’t matter.

The costumes. Lovely hanbeoks in bright colours! You could tell, they had a big budget for the costumes. Our flower boys were always dressed very nicely, no reason not to standout. The ladies were equally dazzling. Beautiful traditional dresses worn and even the accessories were gorgeous.

The makeup. A huge emphasis on makeup during those times. Well, I guess they had the basics like lip color and blush. Most probably, all natural and plant-based ingredients. Even better! I love how Go Young Soo professionally  applied makeup on his client Gae Ddong on her wedding day and how he transformed her into a noble-looking lady fit for a king.

Beautiful scenes. The drama was big on dreamy, beautiful scenes like the bridge scene with the lanterns – a love confession to one and a rejection to the other. Bittersweet! I love the kissing scene under the blossoming myrtle trees. Just lovely! How about the pottery-making scene? Ah that reminds me of Demi Moore’s Ghost. And I shouldn’t forget, the breakup-in-the-rain scene. Beautiful but heartbreaking!

The Flowers. Noticed the different flowers every episode that actually represents the general happenings of that episode. I thought, they were such lovely and thoughtful additions.

Camera Focus. I love how close the camera focuses on the faces. It highlights the gorgeous faces of the cast!

The Cast. And yes, talking about them, what a stunning, gorgeous cast we have here. Let’s start with our matchmaking agents…

Kim Min Jae as Ma Hoon – Although he was too baby-face for the role, I think he did an awesome job. I love his voice, I think that made up a lot for his baby face. He always sounded mature and sexy. There are still some rooms for improvement for him but Kim Min Jae has undeniably talent in acting and he’s one of the young ones to watch for.

Byun Woo Suk as Do Joon – Omo, he was super sexy in this drama! Didn’t watch any of his other dramas so I was quite taken aback by his beauty. He looked so damn hot in long straight hair and flowing pink hanbeok. Byun Woo Suk definitely nailed this character!

Park Ji Hoon as Go Young Soo – yes he’s an idol but I’m impressed with how he did so well in his character. He was able to channel that uncertain old Chil Nom character and became one of the talented matchmakers.

Seo Ji Hoon as Lee Soo – I don’t know how many times he got dumped in this drama but how could he always look adorable like a sad puppy everytime that happens. Seo Ji Hoon, such a promising young talent like Min Jae and very handsome too especially with the long hair (you know the blacksmith look).

Gong Seung Yun as Gae Ddong – I love Gong Seung Yun since Are You Human Too? Although her characters like Gae Ddong always start as somewhat annoying, she always managed to pull it off.

Go Won Hee as Kang Ji Hwa – I like the character very much. Tough, firm, knows what she want-kind of lady. I especially like her chemistry with Do Joon. Quite worthy of a spin off!

OST. My favourite song from the drama… With You. Brings back memories!

Ending. Needless to say happy. It’s a not so serious Sageuk afterall! Lots of happy endings here so if you’re a sucker for happy endings then this one’s for you. And if you’re a sucker for epilogues too like me, this one got one!

Dislikes: I’m a bit sad for King Lee Soo :-(.

My Rating: 8 stars! (10 as highest)

Are-You-Human-Too kdramaSummary:  Nam Shin 3 is a very advanced robot created by the brilliant scientist Dr. Oh to replace her son the real Nam Shin whose been separated from her since he was young. When Nam Shin falls into coma, Nam Shin 3 has to replace him to act on his behalf as the director of the company the real Nam Shin will have to inherit. Nam Shin 3 is doing fantastic in his job and he even gets close to the lady bodyguard, Kang So Bong.

Trailer: Are You Human Too?

Genre: Science Fiction, Mystery, Romance
Episodes: 36 (35 minutes/episode)
Stars: Seo Kang Joon as Nam Shin / Nam Shin III
Gong Seung Yun as Kang So Bong

Likes: I never expected this futuristic drama will turn out so good! First impression was… okay, big budget with all the explosions and actions in the first few episodes. But as it progressed, I was starting to think it was getting more exciting. In fact very exciting that it surpassed What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim which I was watching in parallel.

What do I like most? The story is great although at first I wasn’t sure it will focus on the human Nam Shin or the robot. When I was kind of  certain about the main character, my curiousity increased on how they will pull off a good ending. And I’m glad they did!

I like the positive introduction of AI to humans. Not the usual “robots taking over the human world”. Well, this is kdrama afterall :)! If all robots will be as good-looking, gentle (in most occasions), intelligent, diligent and very human-like and I think the future is bright! I won’t say no to another Seo Kang Joon robot look-alike!

The Cast is brilliant! Everyone did a great job in their roles but I think my praises will go mostly to these 4 people…

Seo Kang Joon as Nam Shin and Nam Shin 3 – applause to this guy for making it to my crush list. Well, it’s already a long list but he’s somewhere on the top right now! He fairly deserves it as he was brilliant in this double role! Seo Kang Joon proves that he’s not just a pretty face like any current or former kpop idols, he’s a great actor as well. I’m impressed of this handsome young man! His looks on the other hand is flawless! Well, really just like a robot! I love both roles and I think Seo Kang Jooon did so well as the arrogant, hot-tempered, rebellious and handsome human Nam Shin, as well as the gentle, smiling, thoughtful, strong, hero-like and perfectly handsome Nam Shin 3! Simply excellent performance in these two contrasting characters!

Gong Seung Yun as Kang So Bong – her role came out very annoying in the beginning but in the later episodes she proved to be well-deserving of the top lead post. Gong Seung Yun was perfect for this role, I can’t imagine any other actress doing this. I love her looks… sturdy but sexy with a beautiful face. I also love how she talked and pronounced words. She was lovable in the drama that even robots fell for her :). Most importantly, her chemistry with Seo Kang Joon was awesome!

Lee Joon Hyuk as Ji Young Hoon – he was the right hand of Nam Shin, the Hyung in this drama! Although, it was a supporting role, it’s hard not to notice him. His presence is dominating, maybe because of his handsome face or his acting or maybe both.

Yoo Oh Sung as Seo Jong Gil – the annoying almost-father-in-law and CEO of the company who wanted to take over everything! Yeah this guy. He was so annoyingly good! Always eavesdropping on important conversations! Such a bully really. If he made me annoyed, it just proved he’s a good actor, that there is no doubt.

Cheesy scenes and dialogues. What are my favourites?

  • When Kang So Bong heard her own heart beating so loud and fast, she thought it was Nam Shin 3 but then he said, “I have no heart.” 🙂
  • Nam Shin 3 hugs everyone who was crying ! *Love*
  • The wink reflex when someone is lying. It was so cute especially when he says, “Koejitmal!” 😉 .
  • When Nam Shin 3 tried to understand what Love is and he pulls out the dictionary definition: “A chemical process!”
  • Wrist-grabbed by a jealous robot. Yay!
  • The first kiss! When Nam Shin 3 relied on the net on how to say NO to a girl. Well, grab another girl and kiss her 🙂 .

The Ending. I was really hoping they won’t mess up the ending and I’m glad they didn’t resulting to me giving a high rating for this one. For a moment, I thought they would settle with the human Nam Shin but when Nam Shin 3′ s identity was finally revealed, yay future is brighter :-). But then unfortunate things happen and my favourite Nam Shin 3 got shot a number of times (I love that scene! Reminds of Day6 Shoot Me video), sank in the water and took forever to have him repaired or was he not? Watch the drama if you haven’t ;-). The very ending was so *LOVE* !

Dislikes: Some characters in the beginning were just so unreasonably annoying. A few holes in the story but can be ignored.

My Rating: 9 stars! (10 as highest)
