the-undateables kdramaSummary: Love guru / toy gallery director, Hoon Nam meets a matchmaker, Jung Eum who is struggling to make a match! In exchange for a toy that Hoon Nam had been looking for, he strikes a deal with Jung Eum to help her with her list of undateables. As the two opposites work together, they start to find themselves attracted to each other.

Trailer:  The Undateables

Genre: Romantic Comedy
Episodes: 32 (35 minutes/episode)
Stars: Nam Goong Min as Hoon Nam
Hwang Jung Eum as Jung Eum
Choi Tae Joon as Choi Joon Soo

Likes: Another cute romantic comedy with Hwang Jung Eum. You either like her or hate her but I do like her – her crazy acting and her dramas. She always comes out unlikeable and unpretty at start but as every of her drama progresses, she always becomes more likeable and prettier. This character development is kind of unexpected in all dramas of hers and this one is no exception. Hwang Jung Eum trademark it is and I like it!

Of course I was pretty excited that my crazy girl was being paired by the sexy Nam Goong Min. The two had an undeniable good chemistry. Nam Goong Min’s character really suits him well. Super sexy indeed! And credit to his stylist and wardrobe team for bringing out the sexiness in him :-).

The main couple’s love story was cute and simple but could have come out boring without the side stories of the undateables plus the stories of our supporting couples and the drama of both families. The substories were all nicely laid out without compromise.

Of all the undateables, which one was my favourite? Of course it’s Kim So Wool and Oh Doo Ri’s story. They were undoubtedly the stars of the undateables making it from the beginning to the end. I love the country setting where these two officially spent time with each other. And their love story spanned till the altar with a minor setback when the ring didn’t fit. I thought that was hilarious.

I’m happy with the fact that our beloved best friend / supporting male lead, Choi Joon Soo didn’t end up empty handed. I would have been sad. Although his future wasn’t so clear with Soo Ji, a possibility was hinted. So I’m good with that.

In the end, everyone was happy – either it’s finding the partner in life, or realizing their mistakes and immaturity, or letting go, or finding one own self and peace of mind,  or making a decision to love wholeheartedly, or finally changing that overused blazer! There was a happy conclusion to everything and I think that was satisfying.

Word of this kdrama: Obliviate! Meaning to forget, commit to oblivion.

Dislikes: Nothing much to mention.

My Rating: 7.5 stars! (10 as highest)

she was pretty kdramaSummary: Kim Hye Jin was happy to hear from her old friend Ji Sung Joon. Remembering him as the chubby boy from school, she was surprised to see him as a handsome, successful man. Ji Sung Joon on the other hand remembered her as the pretty girl and thought she would even look prettier in the present. Unfortunately it wasn’t the case.

Genre: Romantic Comedy
Episodes: 16
Stars: Hwang Jung Eum as Kim Hye Jin
Park Seo Joon as Ji Sung Joon
Go Joon Hee as Min Ha Ri
Choi Shi Won as Kim Shin Hyuk

Likes: I was glad to see Hwang Jung Eum and Park Seo Joon as a couple in this drama. Though these 2 were kind of siblings in Kill Me, Heal Me, the guy’s interest on her made me wish to see them together in another drama. It seemed my wish had been heard. There was obviously a good chemistry between the leads though Park Seo Joon appears to be much younger than Hwang Jung Eum. The bubbly character of Kim Hye Jin suited to that cold personality of Ji Sung Joon which made it comfortable to watch.

Si Won oh Si Won! It’s great to see another idol in a drama. Si Won delivered pretty well. His transformation from the scruffy look reporter to the very handsome author TEN was definitely MOST (magazine)-like! His looks, acting, command in the English language, I’m pretty sure I’ll be seeing him more in the future. Furthermore, his character in this drama had been made the “big lose”. Such a waste Si Won got dumped! Something like that… The one that got away but not to worry he’ll have his own drama next time :).

Hug and kissing scene on the hospital bed was a heart-stopping one.

Kim Hye Jin’s look transformation was worth the wait. It took it 8 episodes to finally see her pretty but she turned really pretty and more likeable.

It was cute to mention Super Junior while focusing the camera on Si Won’s face.

The lady boss got to be the funniest character in this drama. Her outfits were outrageous so as her Italian accent. It was always very entertaining to watch her.

The ending was cliche so as the whole drama actually but there’s something about cliches that I like. No surprises. I got the ending that I like… wedding scene and an elaborate epilogue that was even showing a beautiful offspring.

Dislikes: It was hard to watch the 2 main leads unlikeable characters in the beginning. Kim Hye Jin was just too loud and Ji Sung Joon was such an ass.

I like Park Seo Joon but he’s no Ji Sung. He was a bit lacking when it comes to acting.

In one of the scenes, Hari was doing yoga with too much makeup. Hm…

My Rating: 7.5 stars! (10 as highest)

As they try to work together, grim secrets from the past started to get unraveled while also discovering that they both originally knew each other.

Genre: Romantic Comedy, Medical, Mystery
Episodes: 20
Stars: Ji Sung as Cha Do Hyun
Hwang Jung Eum as Oh Ri Jin
Park Seo Joon as Oh Ri Ohn
Oh Min Suk as Cha Ki Joon
Kim Yoo Ri as Han Chae Yun

Likes: Simply put, an excellent drama! Let’s hear out why?

Great script! This is undeniably the best storyline I ever had in a kdrama. The twists are great, they never fail to surprise me. Every episode was a bomb. I thought oh okay, the great secret has been revealed, nothing interesting left but boy the surprises never stopped until it finally ended. I kept on saying, Oh my, that’s why! (with goosebumps of course)

Great director! It’s obvious, the story won’t shine and the cast won’t either if it wasn’t directed awesomely.

Great cast! Ji Sung and Hwang Jung Eum is definitely a success pair. I love them both in Secret and was glad to find out they collaborated again. There can’t be any other choice than these two for this drama especially Ji Sung who did a FANTASTIC performance of all 7 characters. Also the supporting cast couldn’t be left out, everyone was just great!

Great personalities! I love them so I’ll talk about every single one…

Mr. X – he appeared last so I thought oh there’s no need for him but when his identity was revealed, I had goosebumps again :).

Nana – she’s one of the biggest surprises here. Oh that name revelation is still giving me goosebumps!

Ahn Yo Sub – I just wanna hug this one a lot. So young, so talented but so depressed :(.

Ahn Yo Na – this girl will make you crack up! So funny! And Ji Sung oh Ji Sung, you did such a great job with this one.

Perry Park –  I lurve the accent! But I think what I like about Perry Park most is the story behind why he existed.

and last but not the least, my favorite of them all…

Shin Si Ge – the looks, the style, the voice, the confidence, the no-fear attitude, the temper… he was just sizzlin hot! I almost fell off my chair when he got his parting gift from the lady love. I’m terribly terribly missing him. Shin Si Ge dear, you made a really great rival!

Great OST! That awesome song which is always played at the right moment and makes my heart beats faster. Yep the one with the rapping :). I don’t understand a word but it sounds really great.

Great ending! Though it had come to the end for the personalities that I started to like, they’ve been given so much value in the drama assuring they’re gonna be missed. It was a bitter, sweet one but done so well.

Note: No dislikes for this drama. I love it and I’m giving it a top rating, same level like my all-time favorite Secret Garden. So there you go…

My Rating: 10 stars! (10 as highest)

secret kdramaSummary: A story of a woman who tries to keep a secret to save the man that she loves but ended up being unwanted by him in the end.

Genre: Melodrama, Romance
Episodes: 16
Stars: Hwang Jung Eum as Kang Yoo Jung
Ji Sung as Jo Min Hyuk
Bae Soo Bin as Ahn Do Hoon
Lee Da Hee as Shin Se Yeon

Likes:  I like everything about the drama; the plot, the cast, the direction, the ending – well done!

The plot – it’s a perfect balance of sadness, revenge, ambition and love. How the truth unravel in the end reminds me of a couple good HongKong movies I watched in the past which has a similar style of storyline. You wouldn’t miss to say, oh so that how it actually happened! Every episode is a thrill you don’t wanna miss.

The cast – well chosen! I just love the four of them. Hwang Jung Eum acted as the perfect victim. Ji Sung, oh Ji Sung (he’s hot!) was perfect immature Chaebol. Bae Soo Bin, he gets these creepy roles but suit him very well. Lee Da Hee, ah she always looked naturally rich!

The direction – for the acting to look very natural, it must be the doing of the so called director! Simply well done!

The ending – we get this story which is almost reality but has a sweet kdrama ending, ahhh! I’m actually used to have a HongKong thriller movie kind of ending but hey this is a kdrama afterall!

The most touching moment is about the son. How dare them writers touch the hearts of the moms?? Wahhh, I couldn’t help crying. But it was good, well researched or maybe the writers are moms as well :).

Perfect length of drama! I wouldn’t ask for an additional episode just to have a longer epilogue. It was perfect like that!

Dislikes: It’s hard to recall something I disliked. I think the likes outweighs it all.

My Rating: 9.5 stars! (10 as highest)
