switch kdramaSummary: When Baek Joon Soo, a prosecutor fell into coma while after a drug ring, Sa Do Chan who looks just like him fills in his role. Sa Do Chan, a pro conman, who has the ability to be someone else and deceives people becomes a prosecutor for his own hidden agenda; and that to catch Grizzly who he believes killed his father.

Trailer: Switch: Change the World

Genre: Legal, Comedy
Episodes: 32 (35 minutes/episode)
Stars: Jang Geun Suk as Sa Do Chan / Baek Joon Soo
Han Ye Ri as Oh Ha Ra
Jung Woong In as Geum Tae Woong

Likes: Double role seems trendy these days. After Good Witch, I’ve been enjoying another drama where our lead is doing two roles and I’m not complaining. Jang Geun Suk is more than capable of taking the two challenging roles of a prosecutor and a conman. He always looked good in suits with matching serious face and at the same time I also liked his cool and and more relaxed get ups when turning into a smart conman. Although I miss him in a romantic drama, I know he’s been taking in some more serious and challenging roles like this one which he portrayed so well. Another proof he’s not just a pretty face :).

It’s a very thrilling and entertaining drama! With all the scenarios and setups plus great cliffhangers, this was one exciting drama to watch. I loved it when their conning always came out successful and made the villains looked stupid. I always looked forward to the next smart setup. It seemed like Sa Do Chan had endless awesome counter moves against the bad guys! Hurrah for that!

I love Sa Do Chan’s team! Highly skilled people in one small family. The friendship, love and support towards each other. Lots of bromance, well except for the lady. It was sooo heartbreaking to see them go separately… well almost.

Oh Ha Ra keomsa, she’s actually very pretty! One tough, cute and pretty prosecutor! I’ll have to see, they picked the right girl for the role.

Geum Tae Woong is awesome! A good villain always makes a drama complete. Thanks to him! And Jung Woong In did this role so well… like his other villain characters! His finale drama in prison was brilliant.

I love the relevance of that gruesome painting of a “father trying to eat his son” to Geum Tae Woong. So ironic for him. Have to look this one up… It’s  a painting by Peter-Paul Rubens depicting the Roman god Saturn devouring his own son. 1636 CE. (Museo del Prado, Madrid) . See picture.

Noticed this quote… “The biggest con in life is winning over a person’s heart completely!”

And did anyone notice how tall and handsome Manager Kim was?! Song Won Suk is the name to watch!

The ending? It was so good to see everyone back in their own business. A good closure to an exciting 16-episode prosecuting and conning drama!

Dislikes: I was missing the romance. There were early signs but nothing came out of it. Oh well, better luck next time.

My Rating: 8 stars! (10 as highest)

jackpot kdramaSummary: 2 princes of Joseon separated from birth but later reunited through their love for gambling. Baek Dae Gil and prince Yeoning also later joined hands to catch the untouchable Yi In Jwa. Both son of the fierce King Sukjong, Baek Dae Gil became the people’s man and prince Yeoning after some power struggles later became King Yeongju.

Genre: Period
Episodes: 24
Stars: Jang Geun Suk as Baek Dae Gil
Yeo Jin Goo as Prince Yeoning later King Yoengjo
Jun Kwang Ryul as Lee In Jwa
Choi Min Soo as King Sookjong
Im Ji Yun as Dam Seo

Likes: Another beautiful period drama with great cast, lovely costumes, intricate story of brotherly love, struggle for power, greed, revenge, politics and impressive swordmanship.

From its well-chosen cast, I would pick 4 favorites and they are…

Jang Geun Suk as Baek Dae Gil – JGS prepared a lot for this role. Though his face is not too Joseon, but he definitely had some Joseon accent going on. The first episodes, he went through some tough scenes like being covered even buried in mud. His training scenes with the master was great. He looked like he could really cut a falling petal blind-folded or shoot an arrow through a hole of a penny. Those scenes were so daebak!

Yeo Jin Goo as Prince Yeoning and later King Yeongju – if I wanna imagine how a really good-looking Joseon royal would look like then it’s the face of Yeo Jin Goo. He always looks good, acts great and speaks really well in period drama.

Choi Min Soo  as King Sukjong – if I had to have a crush from this drama then it’s this guy. Wow, the real King Sukjong must have been so intimidatingly handsome, fierce like a tiger and wise like several kings put together.  Choi Min Soo definitely did a astounding job!

Jun Kwang Ryul as Yi In Jwa – I have to give the best actor award to this guy. He was just amazingly good in acting. He could portray hatred in calmness, greed in leadership and great wisdom in politics. He was the last powerful villain standing and had to meet his most painful end.

Impressive and beautiful training scenes of Baek Dae Gil by the master Kim Chae Gun. Cutting of falling petals, perfectly shooting and fending arrows and flawless swordmanship. They remind me of old Jackie Chan movies.

Lots of impressive sword fights throughout the drama but my favorite is Kim Chae Gun vs Hwan Jin Ki.

I have to mention the costumes. They looked wonderful and realistic. Beautiful and colorful palace outfits, from the royals down to the guards and servants. The common people, slaves and rebels were dressed realistically.

The props and extras on the set were generously provided that make for example a coronation of a king looked so real. The atmosphere, the colors and the people around make the whole scene beautiful to watch.

Baek Dae Gil’s awesome first meeting… with the brother prince Yeoning, with the father King Sukjong (Sukjong looking at him scrutinizing his looks) and with the mother Suk Bin Choe.

Yi In Jwa and King Sukjong outwitting each other’s plans. These 2 characters are the great minds of this drama.

The gambler villains that Baek Dae Gil had to fight and defeat were great addition to the characters.

Tragic endings, lots of them. It’s the beauty of a period drama.

The bromance between the 2 princes was immortalize in the last scene. Such a beautiful closure to a seemingly tragic last episode.

Dislikes: Jang Geun Suk, a good actor but his face is really not for period drama.

The acting in the last 2 episodes became slow and awkward. As if they change the director. It also became cheesy. Hm, who’s fault was that.

Not much romance going on in this drama. (where are the females?!)

pretty man kdramaSummary: Pretty man Dokgo Ma Te has to find a valuable password his deceased mother has left. He has to win over several women that could help him get to his goal.

Genre: Romantic Comedy, Family
Episodes: 16
Stars: Jang Geun Suk as Dokgo Ma Te
IU as Kim Bo Tong
Lee Jang Woo as David Choi
Han Chae Young as Hong Yoo Ra

Likes: It’s unexpectedly good. This is my Cheongdamdong Alice of 2013! It has a good story line with unexpected twists! I thought it was just one of these cute dramas, more visuals than story but no I was wrong. This has both!

Talking of visuals, this  drama is indeed packed with pretty faces! The perfect face of Jang Geun Suk, the very cute IU, the handsome (with sexy voice) Lee Jang Woo and the gorgeous doll Han Chae Young!

I like the 10 characters of women that our pretty man Dokgo Ma Te has to conquer. I didn’t expect the last 3 specially the last one. It makes every episode interesting!

The ending is good. A closure to every important characters’ story without overdoing it.

I love David Choi! It was always heartbreaking to see him getting rejected so I’m glad he might end up with a glamping fanatic in the end.

Best acting award of course goes to the iron lady, MG queen, Na Hong Ran. I love her! She was just great!

Gigolo image suits JGS very well!
Oh how I missed JGS long hair, the one he sported in the 1st episodes. So pretty!

Dislikes:  Very little chemistry between JGS and IU. Sweet moments didn’t make me giddy much.

It was odd to see JGS cry in the last episode. It looked very forced. Sorry.

Heavily advertised Ferrino!

yourebeautifulSummary:  A convent girl dragged into lying in order to save her identical twin brother who couldn’t make it in time to join a popular boy group. She had to dress up and act like her brother and live with the other band members in the same house.

Genre: Romantic Comedy, Teens
Episodes: 16
Stars: Jang Geun Suk as Hwang Tae Kyung
Park Shin Hye as Go Mi Nam and Go Mi Nyu
Lee Hong Ki as Kang On Yu / Jeremy
Jung Yong Hwa as Kang Shin Woo
UEE as Yoo He Yi

Likes: I’m into idols at the moment. I think it’s the kpop thing that made me watch this finally! Oh yeah CNBlue!

I love Jang Geun Suk! He can act, he can sing and he really looks good from all angles! Though his one eye is smaller than the other, he still looks good!

Actually the 3 guys all look damn good!

Park Shin Hye is cute but the girl to watch is UEE! She was annoyingly great!

Dislikes:  The chemistry between 2 leads was just poor. I love Park Shin Hye but JGS has to be paired with someone else. Sorry no spark at all.

I was never convinced with the kissing scenes. Plus what kind of kisses were those. They were not moving at all!!!

I dislike Park Shin Hye’s role. Too clumsy! Reminds me of Jandi. I always wonder if cold guys really like this kind of girls. I guess not.

Sorry Jung Yong Hwa but no facial expression at all. Hard to be next to JGS. Watching Heartstrings at the moment, I want to see him improved! Even just a bit.

Presence of annoying characters like Manager Ma and Go Mi Nam’s aunt.

Genre: Romance, Fantasy
Episodes: 20
Stars: Jang Geun Suk as Seo In Ha and Seo Joon

Jung Jin Young as Seo In Ha

Lovely faces of JGS and Yoona! I also think Kim Si Hoo is cute!
Both leads did a good job protraying 2 different characters!
Great chemistry!
Kissing scenes are heart-stopping especially the fountain!
Wedding scene!
It makes me love rain!

Dislikes: Towards the end, the script kept on insisting to separate the 2 young leads that gives an impression of just stretching the whole show up to 20 episodes if it could have been finished with less. Just my impression.

My Rating: 8.5 stars! (10 as highest)
