bride of the water god kdramaSummary: Habaek, the water god, leaves the realms of the gods for the human world to look for the divine stones. He then meets So Ah, a psychiatrist who is the descendant of the servants of the gods. While looking for the stones and staying at her place, the 2 fall in love with each other.

Genre: Fantasy, Romantic Comedy
Episodes: 16
Stars: Nam Joo Hyuk as Ha Baek
Shin Se Kyung as So Ah
Im Ju Hwan as Hoo Ye
Krystal Jung as Moo Ra
Gong Myung as Bi Ryum

Likes: It was exciting to have yet another fantasy drama this year. I love the setting and the characters. The 2 worlds looked great! It started with showing some details of the realm of the gods with Habaek himself in his godly appearance. It was followed by the introduction to the human world and what could be prettier than a cherry blossom naturally-decorated Seoul :).

After some impressive intro to both world, we got a taste of Habaek’s on and off power in the human world. I thought that rescue scene: Habaek rescuing So Ah from a fall, looked awesome. I got very excited and waited for more scenes like that.

I love Habaek! I think the character was very charming. He might have lost his power but he kept his charm. His looks was charming so as the way he spoke. I loved it when he talked seriously but always came out funny like when he said, “A guy can’t love without a car” or “Candies shouldn’t be eaten at once”. And how can I forget his description of the mug he gave to his girl, “This is me (referring to the guy on the mug) and this is you (pointing to the dog on the mug which represents So Ah). And of course (even if he overdid it a bit), I love all his shirtless scenes :).

Best actor in this drama was Im Ju Hwan, hands down! He upstaged everyone! And all I thought, the director was simply bad making most actors here looked quite sloppy. But hey how come there was one who really stood out! Im Ju Hwan did really great. In the end, he was the only I was looking forward to watch. This guy deserves a leading role next time!

Shin Se Kyung was also great. Her acting put Nam Joo Hyuk in a bad light. She all had the emotions going but always unreciprocated.

Forget the acting although she wasn’t that bad but  Krystal Jung probably had the best part for trying out all those gorgeous outfits! Well, she gave them all justice as she has the body for them. The entire drama was like a runway for her.

OST is love! Bride of the Water God OST.

The sunset and bride scenes at the end were both lovely. Habaek and So Ah looked really good together!

Dislikes: The storyline was a mess. A lot of informations were lacking and/or unsupported. I have the impression that some were left for the audience to figure out or the writers simply expected us to read the manhwa.

Bad acting everywhere. Aside from the 2 excellent actors in this drama I mentioned above, the rest were so-so. But will have to concentrate on Nam Joo Hyuk (sorry fans), he was very lacking. There was no facial expression! It’s awkward to watch that while Shin Se Kyung was giving it her all, everytime the camera shifted to Nam Joo Hyuk, nothing as in nothing. It hurt to watch. There’s still a room for improvement, no rush for top lead roles if you’re not yet ready. Nam Joo Hyuk, you were very promising in Moon Lovers – Scarlet Heart: Ryeo.

The ending, wahhh! So poor. No one bothers to improve anything. It was like… Ok folks, not doing well in the ratings, let’s just get it over and done with. I thought it would compete with Goblin but nahhh!

But because of Im Ju Hwan’s performance, I’m still giving it a…

the heirs kdramaSummary: Kim Tan, a handsome, cool young guy and heir to the biggest corporate group in Korea aka Chaebol falls in love with the simple Eun Sang, daughter of their housemaid.

Genre: Romantic Comedy, School, Melodrama, Teens
Episodes: 20
Stars: Lee Min Ho as Kim Tan
Park Shin Hye as Cha Eun Sang
Kim Woo Bin as Choi Young Do
Krystal Jung as Lee Bo Na
Kim Ji Won as Rachel Yoo
Kang Min Hyuk as Yoon Chan Young
Kang Ha Neul as Lee Hyo Shin
Park Hyung Shik as Jo Myung Soo
Jun Soo Jin as Kang Ye Sol
Choi Jin Hyuk as Kim Won

Likes: I won’t say no to another Lee Min Ho! Plus it’s Park Shin Hye as the leading lady.

Huge intro! Hollywood, mansion, car, rich californian lifestyle… it was exciting!

Eye candies! So many of them.

One kissing scene that I really like, they didn’t hesitate!

Favorite characters award goes to Lee Bo Na – rich, cute, pretty and she delivered her dialogues pretty well. Another one goes to the mom of Kim Tan, she was the star of the show.

Why Choi Young Do? Hah, the bad boy image, the looks, the hairstyle, the ride, the hotel and he always looks terrific in his outfits!

Why Kim Tan? Got to admit, I’m not yet over the Jun Pyo syndrome plus the surfing board, the car (at least when he was in LA), the top Chaebol label and yeah he fought for the girl that he liked.

Dislikes: It was overhyped! The story is just average… poor girl meets Chaebol, father disapproves and so on and so forth. It was lacking good side stories that could keep the excitement. What a waste of characters, there were plenty of them like what happened to Rachel, she started very strong. How about the pair Bo Na and Chan Young? Choi Young didn’t end up as the great Ji Hoo (BOF). The story became draggy very early because it was too focused on the 2 leads.

The ending? I was hoping for a good epilogue that could save it all but unfortunately none.
