sweet stranger and me kdramaSummary: Hong Na Ri, a beautiful flight stewardess goes home to her deceased mother’s house only to find out that it’s now owned by a guy Go Nan Gil, who lives there and runs the family dumpling business. She finds out that her mother married Go Nan Gil and he’s not just running the family business but also is the legal owner of the family’s house and land.

Genre: Romantic Comedy
Episodes: 16
Stars: Soo Ae as Hong Na Ri
Kim Young Kwang as Go Nan Gil
Lee Soo Hyuk as Kwon Duk Bong
Jo Bo Ah as Do Yeo Joo

Likes: It started really well. Cast looked promising. Story, a typical crazy setup but intriguing. Provincial setting is a good break from Seoul. It looked sweet and I was up to finishing all 16 episodes of it.

Soo Ae is one of my favorite Korean actresses. She’s a brilliant actress. She can be cute, she can be serious without overacting. And above all her beauty is timeless. I don’t get tired of it at all. Her character as a stewardess in this drama brings out that elegance in her. She looked really great in her stewardess outfit.

The drama had the same feel like The Vineyard Man. Small town, but instead of a farmer, the guy is a dumpling chef, girl goes from city style to province, simple outfits, simple life, simple living but there was a possibility of big love.

Comical reliefs in this drama are not bad. I love Kwon Duk Shim! Though she could be really bratty, she was always cute whenever she sees the main guy, Go Nan Gil. Another one, Lee Yong Gyoo, one of the dumpling guys was also funny, chatty and a possible partner to our already cute Duk Shim!

Some beautiful scenes of the countryside we don’t normally get to see when the main set is in the city. Love the beach, the lake, the forest, the small town street scenes.

The ending was cute though kind of expected.

Dislikes: As I mentioned above, the drama started really well. I was very hopeful about it but after I think the 5th or 6th episode, there was not much improvement. It became really boring.

The chemistry of the main leads wasn’t that good. I love Soo Ae but pairing her with Kim Young Kwang just didn’t work. Young Kwang, though a promising young actor, just didn’t suit the character Go Nan Gil well. Too soft for a supposed to be tough character.

It was lacking good antagonists. It was lacking the challenge. It makes the show so dull.

Too many flashbacks! Was it because the show didn’t do well that they had to recycle a lot of previous scenes? The last episode were full of flashbacks, so bored that I had to forward a lot.

I haven’t given a low rating in a very long time but I guess I have to now…

My Rating: 6.5 stars! (10 as highest)

neighborhood hero kdramaSummary: A former agent, Baek Shi Yoon who just came out of prison is trying to find out who was responsible for the death of his close friend and colleague while doing their last operation together in Macau. While plotting his revenge he’s become the protector of his current neighborhood and befriended with ex-agents so as with other people who later become a big help to realizing his goal.

Genre: Action, Thriller, Crime, Mystery
Episodes: 16
Stars: Park Shi Hoo as Baek Shi Yoon
Jo Sung Ha as Im Tae Ho
Lee Soo Hyuk as Choi Chan Gyoo
Kwon Yoo Ri as Bae Jung Yeon
Yoon Tae Young as Yoon Sang Min
Jung Man Shik as Jung Soo Hyuk

Likes: It’s great to see Park Shi Hoo making this successful comeback after his much-talked scandal. Though a bit slim, he looks real good and has a well-toned body to show off. So not too surprised to see him half-naked a lot in this drama.

Packed with great actors! This drama wasn’t just about Park Shi Hoo and his role but also all the other members of the cast who delivered excellent performance to their roles. These following men and their roles basically made up this great drama…

Ahn Suk Hwan as Park Sun Hoo – he’s undoubtedly the best actor here. His role as a sneaky, big-talker boss doesn’t go unnoticed in the first few episodes. His facial expressions are so good, it always wanted me to hit his face ;).

Lee Soo Hyuk as Choi Chan Kyoo – I always thought of him as the handsome vampire in the Scholar Who Walk the Night but seeing Lee Soo Hyuk pulled off his character here is a change of impression. This guy can take any role. Loved seeing him here wearing a police uniform.

Jo Sung Ha as Im Tae Ho – his common policeman role in this drama who’s easily getting swayed by money due family concerns is I think his best performance so far.

Jung Man Shik as Jung Soo Hyuk – big guy, easy, calm and best accessory of the most powerful received the most unfortunate ending.

Yoon Tae Young as Yoon Sang Min – he’s got the face, the over-all look of a handsome villain who can fight! Driven by greed and ambition, his darkest moment was to get rid of his own bestfriend.

The New York Study Group – these powerful, rich, well-dressed and not so bad-looking men are to watchout for. I love the atmosphere when these men are around.

A James Bond and a neighborhood hero theme makes an action-filled drama – lots of action from our very well-dressed former agent. And since our hero is well-dressed, you can expect the villains to be the same. Fighting eye candies! Aja!

Levels of villains! Our hero thinks he’s fighting the right guy only to find out he’s just level 0 and there are more powerful people behind the whole thing. Of course in level 0, our hero can fight using his fists but on a higher level, there’s got to be some politics involved. It’s great to see how our guy gets through all this opponent levels.

The shadow / hero effect! How about wearing those H hats. In the end, everyone looked great wearing one. And if only we could solve problems like that in real life.

Hurrah for epilogue! I get to see Chan Kyoo wearing his police unirform for real. And a confirmation that our original hero didn’t leave us for good.

Dislikes: What was our Hero thinking? Sending the memoirs to mum’s preschool. It’s endangering his mum and all the kids in there. Not so thoughtful.

Writer Bae’s nagging character was getting so annoying. She was worse than the actual girlfriend.

Our hero getting out and back in the hospital. Was that to stretch the show so it could reach its 16th episode?

Scholar Who Walks the Night kdramaSummary: Kim Sung Yeol together with his best friend, the crown prince Junghyun tried to get rid of Gwi, the vampire who was ruling the palace… but failed. He got bitten and turned into a vampire himself and went into hiding. After a century, he found the secret on how he could get rid of Gwi. With the help of the ruling royals and unfortunately with the woman he loves, he’ll take the battle that will end it all.

Genre: Period, Fantasy, Romance
Episodes: 20
Stars: Lee Joon Ki as Kim Sung Yeol
Lee Yoo Bi as Jo Yang Sun
Shim Chang Min as Crown Prince Lee Yun
Kim So Eun as Choi Hye Ryung / Lee Myung Hee
Lee Soo Hyuk as Vampire Gwi
Jang Hee Jin as Soo Hyang

Likes: Vampire Overall Looks: These drama has the prettiest vampires I’ve ever seen! Kim Sung Yeol and Gwi turned Joseon into a runway. Who’s the fairest of these two? I’m always a fan of LJK (Kim Sung Yeol). Omo, omo, those looks could melt a million chocolate ladies, lol! Those eyes and his perfectly crafted face topped with a superb talent in martial arts. He’s a winner! Gwi (Lee Soo hyuk) is not lagging behind. Oh those curly long locks, sophisticated nose and a tall lean figure. Gwi’s gracefulness and power could always win the ladies.

The Voice:  It’s not that Kim Sung Yeol failed in this department. His voice was actually really sexy in this drama but I think Gwi won this part hands down. Gwi’s voice was absolutely shiver-worthy!

Best Dressed: I totally loved Kim Sung Yeol’s Hanboks especially the one with the flowers. Just sooo beautiful! But Gwi’s outfits were gorgeous as well. Long and flowing and dark! Suits his character very well.

The Characters: I just loved both! Kim Sung Yeol’s charm is his good-nature, his love, belief and loyalty. Gwi on the other hand is the power, strength and in the end his weakness.

The cast is well chosen. It’s good to see ChangMin here. Lee Yoo Bi though super cute didn’t really disappoint as the leading lady of LJK. Kim So Eun has improved a lot and Jang Hee Jin was just so pretty.

I love the OST. There’s a song that I particularly like and it was always played in the beginning when the leads were just falling in love. Then later on, played again shortly in the epilogue.

Vampire fights were awesome! Very well choreographed.

Kim Sung Yeol’s library was lovely! I could imagine the smell of all the books in there. It was very well thought. This is just one example of the production’s effort on details in this drama.

Though the chemistry between the leads wasn’t top, the first kiss was heart-stopping!

And that hair of Kim Sung Yeol’s bad vampire concience.

Dislikes: Argh that secret plan (recipe) wasn’t that clear! After a long time looking for it, they only got information on ingredients without the proper instruction. Hm, quite useless.

Crown Prince mum who was staying in the monastery was too made up haha! Sorry couldn’t help.

The ending wasn’t explained properly.  I just don’t understand why Kim Sung Yeol disappeared after defeating Gwi? And they pulled a Faith-like ending without much sense! Hello the tree!
