the-undateables kdramaSummary: Love guru / toy gallery director, Hoon Nam meets a matchmaker, Jung Eum who is struggling to make a match! In exchange for a toy that Hoon Nam had been looking for, he strikes a deal with Jung Eum to help her with her list of undateables. As the two opposites work together, they start to find themselves attracted to each other.

Trailer:  The Undateables

Genre: Romantic Comedy
Episodes: 32 (35 minutes/episode)
Stars: Nam Goong Min as Hoon Nam
Hwang Jung Eum as Jung Eum
Choi Tae Joon as Choi Joon Soo

Likes: Another cute romantic comedy with Hwang Jung Eum. You either like her or hate her but I do like her – her crazy acting and her dramas. She always comes out unlikeable and unpretty at start but as every of her drama progresses, she always becomes more likeable and prettier. This character development is kind of unexpected in all dramas of hers and this one is no exception. Hwang Jung Eum trademark it is and I like it!

Of course I was pretty excited that my crazy girl was being paired by the sexy Nam Goong Min. The two had an undeniable good chemistry. Nam Goong Min’s character really suits him well. Super sexy indeed! And credit to his stylist and wardrobe team for bringing out the sexiness in him :-).

The main couple’s love story was cute and simple but could have come out boring without the side stories of the undateables plus the stories of our supporting couples and the drama of both families. The substories were all nicely laid out without compromise.

Of all the undateables, which one was my favourite? Of course it’s Kim So Wool and Oh Doo Ri’s story. They were undoubtedly the stars of the undateables making it from the beginning to the end. I love the country setting where these two officially spent time with each other. And their love story spanned till the altar with a minor setback when the ring didn’t fit. I thought that was hilarious.

I’m happy with the fact that our beloved best friend / supporting male lead, Choi Joon Soo didn’t end up empty handed. I would have been sad. Although his future wasn’t so clear with Soo Ji, a possibility was hinted. So I’m good with that.

In the end, everyone was happy – either it’s finding the partner in life, or realizing their mistakes and immaturity, or letting go, or finding one own self and peace of mind,  or making a decision to love wholeheartedly, or finally changing that overused blazer! There was a happy conclusion to everything and I think that was satisfying.

Word of this kdrama: Obliviate! Meaning to forget, commit to oblivion.

Dislikes: Nothing much to mention.

My Rating: 7.5 stars! (10 as highest)

beautiful gong shim kdramaSummary: Gong Shim seems to be the unluckiest girl with no proper job, an easy target for bullies and also lacking in the looks department. She meets 2 guys who are becoming her defenders. One is a lawyer who’s renting her rooftop room and the other one is an heir. She’s falling in love with the lawyer who she thinks is a simple guy but turns out to be someone else.

Genre: Romantic Comedy
Episodes: 20
Stars: Nam Goong Min as Ahn Dan Tae
Min Ah as Gong Shim
Ohn Joo Wan as Suk Joon Soo
Seo Hyo Rim as Gong Mi

Likes: It’s a light-hearted drama with genuinely great leads. I love Nam Goong Min! His role here is not the usual creepy and super sexy but sexy nevertheless. Min Ah as Gong Shim is a pleasant surprise. She did so well for a kpop idol. She gave edge to her Gong Shim character (the way she looks, talks and walks.) A natural talent indeed.

Also the chemistry between leads was top and instant. I love watching them both. Eventhough there weren’t many kissing scenes but everytime our leads were together, they show an amazing chemistry!

You could rely on some funny moments. Entertaining side kicks, jokes, surprising scenes.

The outfits were quite realistic. Gong Shim’s wardrobe was very well thought of and consistent. Same with  Ahn Dan Tae’s outfits. They both looked like commoners (0f course until Gong Shim got really pretty and begun dressing sexy and Ahn Dan Tae started wearing suits).

Moms’ fights and dads’ bromance! Love the scene when Gong Shim’s mom slammed Joon Soo’s mom on the floor and both dads found out they were both member of a fan club during their younger years.

I love Joon Soo and his unrequited love. Too bad Gong Shim wasn’t just into him but he’s got my precious Ji Hoo’s award (I  will make this award official soon so watch out for it).

The ending was quite cliche but totally loved it! Gong Shim turning into a beautiful swan (with proper hair and sexier outfit) is a sight to behold. The typical one year after without communication turned out alright.

Dislikes: A lot of holes with all that kidnapping story. Too weak.

Joon Soo turning against his own uncle and mother was unimaginable.

Gong Mi, Gong Shims sister didn’t come too strong in the end.

sensory couple kdramaSummary: After a tragic accident, Choi Eun Sul later known as Oh Cho Rim lost her memory but gained something extra-ordinary in return. Her one eye turned colourful and she could see smell through it. She later crossed paths with the young policeman Choi Moo Gak and helped him solved crime cases using her ability to see smell.

Genre: Fantasy, Romantic Comedy, Thriller
Episodes: 16
Stars: Yoochun as Choi Moo Gak
Shin Se kyung as Choi Eun Sul / Oh Cho Rim
Nam Goong Min as Kwon Jae Hee
Yoon Jin Seo as Yum Mi

Likes: It’s refreshing to watch something a bit different. I love how they visualize smell… all those cute icons floating in the air :).

Two funny and bubbly main characters are great addition to what’s already an interesting plot. It’s great to see Yoochun doing something funny again. I think it suits him better than doing serious roles. Nothing to dislike about Shin Se Kyung. I think she’s a great actress and she did a good job portraying Oh Cho Rim.

Though I love the 2 main characters, the supporting roles and the actors themselves are no small time. Nam Goong Min is wow in this drama! Watch and you’ll find out why :)! Yoon Jin Seo, I thought I’ve seen that lovely face before. Oh yeah I was right, she was in my favorite “Old Boy”.

I love crime solving stories. It’s no Sherlock Holmes but it’s a good break from my usual kdrama love stories. They put much thought on each murder case which made an episode interesting to watch.

The police force was very entertaining. I like that guy who had a Russian girlfriend. Him saying her name was always cute.

I like how the lives of our 2 main characters entertwined. Sure, it was tragic but these 2 made a way to be together in the end.

Dislikes: There were just scenes that I found silly. Like practicing and performing that skit. Once would have been okay but I think they did it thrice. It was too much!

Some obvious clue that there might still be trouble. Underestimating Nam Goong Min’s creepy character. Of course he’s Kwon Jae Hee, the very handsome, hot, sexy, celebrity chef in the drama. He won’t die that easily.

My Rating: 7.5 stars! (10 as highest)

my secret hotel kdramaSummary: After her failed marriage in Las Vegas, Nam Sang Hyo got back on her feet working as a wedding planner for the wedding department of Secret Hotel, a well known hotel in Korea. She unfortunately bumped into his ex-husband who was a groom-to-be to a wealthy heir and an important client of the hotel. She herself was hopeful to find love again in the person of her very good-looking boss.

Genre: Romantic Comedy, Mystery
Episodes: 16
Stars: Yoo In Na as Nam Sang Hyo
Nam Goong Min as Jo Sung Gyum
Jin Yi Han as Goo Hae Young
Lee Young Eun as Yeo Eun Joo

Likes: Though the intriguing background of the love between Nam Sang Hyo and her ex Goo Hae Young was promising, it was the thrilling case of murder that definitely captured my attention. And it did till the end. The secret was unfolding slowly and carefully without giving a hint that could spoil it. At the end, you would say, ahh that’s why. I love this murder-solving case in a drama, it reminds me of a Japanese movie called The Murder of the Inugami clan.

Among the 2 guys, I would definitely go for Jo Sung Gyum. He was too handsome, rich, smart and yeah, the body, too sexy! Such a waste he didn’t end up with our girl.

I thought the competition between Nam Sang Hyo and Yeo Eun Jo fighting over their handsome boss was funny and understandable considering the guy was such a great catch.

Dislikes: I so love Jin Yi Han in Empress Ki, reason why I watched this drama but unfortunately I don’t like
his character here. He was just way too annoying and yeah such a jerk. Though the writer tried to save that annoying character by throwing some flashbacks, the damage had been done. He was just too dislikeable.

Since Nam Sang Hyo ended up with her jerk of a husband and how trying hard the writer had to bend the story line so these 2 would be together, the love story part of this drama became unbearable.

My Rating: 7.5 stars! (10 as highest)
