See You in My 19th Life

see you in my 19th life kdramaSummary: Ban Ji Eum has a special ability to remember her past lives. She has been reincarnated a couple of times for the last 1000 years. On her 18th life, she meets Moon Seo Ha, who becomes special to her until she meets a tragic accident and died. On her 19th life, she desperately wants to reconnect with this person, so she finds a way to meet him.

See You in My 19th Life Trailer

Genre: Romance, Fantasy, Supernatural, Boss Romance, Chaebol, Webtoon, Rich Boy Poor Girl
Episodes: 12
Stars: Shin Hye Sun as Ban Ji Eum
Ahn Bo Hyun as Moon Seo Ha
Ha Yoon Kyung as Yoon Cho Won
Ahn Dong Goo as Ha Do Yun

Likes: Totally love the story and how it was told. A combination of several  pasts and a present. The going back and forth in the timeline to give meaning to every life our heroine once had. The pain, struggles, rejection, defeat, heartbreaks, all of it that Ban Ji Eum had to endure in her present, because she simply remembers everything in her past lives. The emotion is so real, that makes this drama very likeable.

The love that transcends two lifetime. It all started when our heroine met an interesting boy in her 18th life. She was simply drawn to the boy. However, her life got cut short by an accident. She died murmuring to the boy, “See you in my 19th life.” As soon as our heroine reached a certain age and started remembering everything in the past, she looked for the boy. Isn’t that the cutest plot?!

See You in my 19th Life. I even love the title, it’s deep. It sounds like see you later, see you tomorrow, see you whenever, but yes in one lifetime. But see you in my next life, our heroine was so determined that her feelings will be the same. Even the episode titles were so meaningful, like episode 4: The Inability to Forget About The One You Long For. Or Episode 8: Casting One’s Fate Unto The Dice.

Love the cast. Simply good actors in this drama starting with…

Shin Hye Sun as Ban Ji Eum – Shin Hye Sun chooses her roles properly and she definitely knows a good script. Ban Ji Eum is an old soul. She knew what she wanted. She was aggressive towards Moon Seo Ha and that made this character pretty interesting.

Ahn Bo Hyun as Moon Seo Ha – Ahn  Bo Hyun is such a versatile actor. He is really into the character. He was so different when I watched him as the annoying rich guy in Itaewon Class. Also he was so into his character in Yumi’s Cells. In this drama, as Moon Seo Ha, aloof and distant but I find him the most handsome and likable.

Ha Yoon Kyung as Yoon Cho Won – Cho Won’s character is just too cute. Can’t be ignored! I loved how she cried like a baby when she was talking to her sister. And her facial expressions whenever she sees he crush, Ha Do Yun.

Ahn Dong Goo as Ha Do Yun – a very quiet character but cares a lot. I understand his hesitation to go for Cho Won. Poor guy, he was bleeding inside. But love when he finally took the courage.

Two love teams. Ban Ji Eum and Moon Seo Ha had a really good chemistry. Their love team would have sufficed to make the drama interesting, but I can’t complain that they added another one. And I love the cute love story of Cho Won and Ha Do Yun as well. That made the whole show much more fun to watch.

The mystery of the first life. Well, this one I didn’t see it coming. I’m still new to the reincarnation thing. So there was a connection already in the first life. Although it wasn’t romantic, but obviously Moon Seo Ha, in his past life had cared for Ban Ji Eum. He wanted to protect her, but couldn’t because she was getting swallowed by her rage. In the end, Moon Seo Ha was the key to end Ban Ji Eum’s curse of remembering her past lives.

First love never dies. That holds true in this drama. Ban Ji Eum’s first love was even from her past life. She desperately searched for him in the next life. And Moon Seo Ha couldn’t also forget his first love, the traces of her, and he was bound to meet her again. And these two souls were just drawn to each other, because of that young love they’ve started.

12 Episodes. I think it was good that way. It would have dragged if they’ve forced it to be 16-episode long.

Sweet ending. I love how Moon Seo Ha took the effort to approach and be near the forgetting Ban Ji Eum. It was the other way around this time. Moon Seo Ha came to her and asked her to date him, like how she did it to her before. So cute!

My Rating: 8.5 stars! (10 as highest)

Family: The Unbreakable Bond

Family the unbreakable bond kdramaSummary: Kwon Do Hoon lives a double life. He is a spy working for the NIS and is a professional sniper. He is also a husband, married to Kang Yoo Ra and has a daughter, Kwon Min Seo. Little did he know that his wife also harbors a secret, and that’s about to get exposed with the arrival of a long-time acquaintance.

Trailer Family: The Unbreakable Bond

Genre: Action, Thriller, Comedy
Episodes: 12
Stars: Jang Hyuk as Kwon Do Hoon
Jang Na Ra as Kang Yoo Ra
Chae Jung An as Oh Cheon Ryeon
Kim Nam Hee as Jo Tae Koo

Likes: This is a very interesting show as it first appeared to be a wholesome, funny family drama, but then became darker as the it advanced. I like the family bond, we’ve got our adorable couple who are raising a young daughter. They’re very close to the husband’s family, which consists of the grandfather and the uncle who’s expecting a baby with the wife. Nobody knows that Kwon Do Hoon, who is the head of the family is a secret agent working for the National Intelligence Service, but the best surprise and twist is the background and dark past of his wife, Kang Yoo Ra, who always appears to be a simple and nice housewife and family person.

Cute intro. Who likes the intro as much as I do. It’s cute! I always watched it, it’s so good, I don’t skip. Check out the intro clip here.

The misleading cliches. There are a lot of cliches in this drama that will completely catch you unguarded. So, don’t trust the happy, unproblematic and forgiving looks. But this is what makes it interesting because you think you’ll know how it’ll end but things go different ways, and it’s a total surprise.

The chemistry. Jang Hyuk and Jang Na Ra’s chemistry is still there, although not as top compared to their Fated To Love You days. Jang Hyuk got a bit older but still looks fit. Jang Na Ra, on the other hand doesn’t seem to age a bit. She still has that youthful looks. Anyways, it’s great to watch one of my favourite kdrama couples together again in one project. Would continue supporting them even when they are much much older.

The fighting couple. The gun fight scene with our couple was the coolest. Who would have thought that the husband is a secret agent and the wife is an assassin. Fighting together to protect the most important thing for them, their family, was top priority. I think their chemistry was best shown during the fighting scenes.

Good supporting actors. I think the story would have been boring without the supporting characters, and glad to see some great actors taking the roles…

Chae Jung An as Oh Cheon Ryeon – Love this lady. Like Jang Na Ra, she also doesn’t seem to age. Known her in Coffee Prince a long time ago, and it’s so refreshing to see her in this drama as a tough, ass-kicking secret agent, even the lady boss of our top lead.

Kim Nam Hee as Jo Tae Koo – this guy is doing so well. After his remarkable role in Reborn Rich, here he is again with yet another good role, although I find his ending too sad.

Kang Yoo Ra’s secret OST. I fell in love with this song Nightmare by Kyuri, it’s just soooo good! And the lyrics fits so well with Kang Yoo Ra’s situation…

Somewhere in the desert of my heart
No one’s here but only you and I
Even if I stay inside a storm
I’ll be standing till the morning comes

Granddad’s marriage advice to Kwon Do Hoon. And yeah all men should learn from him. Here it goes… “I gave your mom my whole salary in an envelope. Your mom lost it on her way to the bank. She lost it but she got mad at me for it. Guess what I did. I told here, “It’s all my fault Shinae (the wife). If the envelope had been thick enough, it won’t have slipped and you wouldn’t have lost it. I’ll make sure it won’t happen again.” That how you should do it too.” 😄

Go Thailand. It’s always good to see kdramas going other places. Definitely, a breath of fresh air. And I love how our main leads met and fell in love in Thailand, and how they went back to the place to have closure. A bitter-sweet ending. Sweet for our lovely couple but definitely not for Uncle Taegu.

Taxi Driver 2

taxi driver 2 kdramaSummary: Kim Do Ki returns as a deluxe taxi driver for Rainbow Taxi Company, which offers a “revenge-call” service. Together with his previous co-workers, he performs revenge solutions for those who can’t do it for themselves.

Taxi Driver 2 Trailer

Genre: Action, Revenge, Webtoon
Episodes: 16
Stars: Lee Je Hoon as Kim Do Ki
Kim Eui Sung as Jang Sung Chul
Pyo Ye Jin as Ahn Go Eun
Jang Hyuk Jin as Choi Kyung Koo
Bae Yoo Ram as Park Jin Eon

Likes: I never thought Taxi Driver is this that good! I’m glad I decided to watch season 2, what an entertaining 16-episode show!

Addictive Intro Music. First thing first of course! The intro music is sooo lit! I always listen to it first before starting an episode. It is so good. It gives you that 80 techno vibe! Check it out… Taxi Driver 2 intro music!

The Taxi. When the music starts, then comes out the deluxe taxi. Our taxi driver drives this black, classic taxi whenever he’s in a mission to take revenge. How cool is that 😎.

The Taxi Driver. It’s good to see the handsome Lee Je Hoon once again in a drama and to see him as the cool guy here, hm, get me soo excited. Looked like he trained hard for this role, such a fit body and his fighting skills are impressive too! He was most handsome (in that gigolo look) when he tried to seduce Madam Lim, the Chinese lady mafia boss! Love Lee Je Joon in this drama for being serious and funny at the same time.

The Rainbow Taxi Team. The hardworking team lead by Jang Sung Chul, taepyonim and together with his skilled members topped by Kim Do Ki, the taxi driver, always delivered a worthy revenge plan for all their clients. I like seeing the team as a family, how close they were, just like brothers and sister, and the boss was their father.

The Revenge Cases. I like all the stories that required the revenge plots. Each of them are good. From that son who got rescued from Vietnam, that old lady who got scammed by an entertainer down to the last unexpected client, On Ha Joon himself. Each story was well-crafted, entertaining and mind-blowing! I also like how all the crimes were connected to one mastermind.

On Ha Joon’s tragic story. I honestly didn’t see that coming. I thought On Ha Joon will just end up as the bad guy. However, when it became clearer how he ended up with the mastermind and how he even killed his own father because of manipulation, he only wanted one thing, revenge and who else to call? Ghos…. nope nope, the Taxi Driver! Yes, that was the best twist in the drama and it was sooo good. That made the ending excellent!

The Villains are brilliant. If our protagonists are quite smart and capable, the villains are awesome too. Each case had a really good bad guy! Very well-thought of characters. Of course our top villains were the best. On Ha Jun was just too good!

The Ending. It was bittersweet but it was best that way. Everyone seemed happy with the outcome of the revenge plans. And our Rainbow Taxi team continues with their service!

Handsome cameo. Nam Goong Min’s cameo as Cheon Ji Hun pyeonhosa from One Dollar Lawyer was absolutely fun. I remember Lee Je Hoon did a cameo in that show earlier too. What a collab!

Dislikes: Lots of ad placements!

My Rating: 8.5 stars! (10 as highest)

Remarriage and Desires

remarriage and desires kdramaSummary: Seo Hye Sung has been unlucky with her marriage. Her husband left her for someone else only to be tricked by a woman which lead to his tragic death. Seo Hye Sung enters a top matchmaking company called REX and meets the woman who caused her misery.  She vows to destroy whatever marrying plan that woman has in mind.

Remarriage and Desires Trailer

Genre: Revenge, Marriage
Episodes: 8
Stars: Kim Hee Sun as Seo Hye Sung
Lee Hyun Wook as Lee Hyung Ju
Jung Yoo Jin as Jin Yoo Hui
Park Hoon as Cha Seok Jin

Likes: A glimpse at the glittering world of the rich and its ugly facet. That makes the peasants (like me) curious as hell 😄. Oh well, it was a very entertaining show. As I’ve said, glitters… the expensive cars, luxurious pads and houses, fashionable outfits and accessories, adrenaline-filled hobbies, exclusive parties! Well done for satisfying our eyes! However, behind all the glitters is a big void and loneliness. What a contrast!

REX. I love how they presented this top dating agency. From the choice of the building, the classy interiors of the offices and lobby, the well-trained managers and last but not least, the grand matchmaker CEO Choi Yoo Sun. Oh I loved how she walked – she had a very commanding presence. And how she talked – always calm but never lost an argument, and always had the last say. Her scheming plans were impressive. As she would say, she is a businesswoman. Her ultimate goal is to gain money because that’s where power lies. How about you? What is it that you want? Rex was definitely her! Here, hoping for a season 2!

Quote from grand matchmaker. “Don’t look for the criteria you desire from the person you love. Instead, look for the love in a person who already fits that criteria. That is the wisest choice!”

The masquerade party. I would say Jin Yoo Hui was the shining star here. She was so determined to bring home the crown 😂. Dress in sexy red gown, she definitely lit up the party. Surprisingly, the masks really made each one unrecognizable, that was so exciting!

Wicked OST. This is another favourite in the show, sooo love the song, WICKED! And I love how it would play during very important scenes. Overall, the tracks were quite good, well-suited with the drama.

The Cast…

Kim Hee Sun as Seo Hye Sung – That professor look always suits her well, just like in Alice. Seo Hye Sung definitely didn’t have it easy. She lost her husband because of another woman. She had her hands full raising her daughter alone and at the same time trying to seek revenge for what she’d lost. The character is tenacious and I think Kim Hee Sun did a great job in portraying her.

Lee Hyun Wook as Lee Hyung Ju – that rich image suits this guy perfectly. He looks great, smart and has got money. I love him in Mine, same rich character but here, he gets his happy ending.

Jung Yoo Jin as Jin Yoo Hui – sooo surprised by her transformation! She is finally showing her hidden talent! Quite brilliant as Jin Yoo Hui, the way she walked and talked were impressive. So confident in front of the camera now. I remember her other shows, she was always unsure. I’m glad she’s finally unleashing that talent.

Park Hoon as Cha Seok Jin – handsome guy and I think this year he’ll get my Second Lead Syndrome Award 😊.

Don’t bite off more than what you can chew. This applies to us all always. The downfall of Jin Yoo Hui was her greed. She was almost there, but then she still tried to kill Hye Sung’s daughter. What a mistake! Because of that, her grand plans crumbled.

Ending. I’m not sure about the wedding, but was glad to see a hint of season 2. I guess this was all about REX anyway. So why not? I was curious who that young guy was in the very ending. It’s Park Ji-Hoon! He starred in Flower Crew: Joseon Marriage Agency and he was a matchmaker as well.

Impressive 8-episode show. Very entertaining! I was so hooked. Concise but suspense-filled. Loved the witty dialogues too!

Dislikes: I just find Kim Hee Sun too old for Lee Hyun Wook! And they could have worked more on the romance between the two to at least justify that wedding in the end. Yes, I think the romance was very lacking.

My Rating: 8.5 stars! (10 as highest)

Again My Life

again-my-life kdramaSummary: Kim Hee Woo is a tough prosecutor who is after a very powerful person. He gets killed, but given another chance to live his life again to fight for justice and go after the same person who caused his death.

Again My Life Trailer

Genre: Fantasy, Crime, Action, Legal, Webtoon
Episodes: 16
Stars: Lee Joon Ki as Kim Hee Woo
Lee Kyung Young as Jo Tae Seob
Kim Ji Eun as Kim Hee Ah
Jung Sang Hoon as Lee Min Soo

Likes: Love this kdrama from beginning to end. It’s like a piece of cake, so good, I wanted to enjoy it slowly. So what made it really great for me?

The mixed genre. I like how its reality got mixed with fantasy. It would have ended it right there, right then at the very first episode, but like our lead, we  were given a chance to see how it’s like to live life again, always being ahead of the game, always winning, but then still making us anxious when things are going wrong. I love Kim Hee Woo’s determination to go through the most difficult path, playing his cards in the game of politics to defeat one person who was on top of them all. Of course, it gave him an upper hand to know what was ahead, but still his path remained challenging and dangerous.

Impressive political drama. The pulling of strings, the strategies, the smart moves, the indefensible attacks, wow, it was like a war, no, in fact, it was a war! The assemblyman Jo Tae Sub had it all, hands down. He was definitely power! Everyone bowed to him. He controlled everything. He could see through people and the future. He was the absolute puppet master! Then, we have our young prosecutor Kim Hee Woo, who started doing what the master had been doing for years. So young and inexperienced, but knowledgeable and definitely knew how to play the game. Such a good fight!

Kim Hee Woo’s greatest strategy. It was I think investing time to befriend and learn from people. That was later on, his source of strength. Those people around him did not just hand him over resources, but they have become his army. They have fought for him. For example, I like his relationships with the old guy who was into real estate, the righteous chief prosecutor he met in his first assignment, the fight and fitness instructor, they have all become his mentors! His friends and acquaintances early on, they have been his great support and have paved his way to get to the top to defeat the ultimate enemy.

Kim Hee Woo’s three ladies. I was so torn between these 3, Kim Hee Ah, the Chunha Group heiress; Kim Han Mi, the pretty journalist; and Kim Kyu-ri, the brave lady prosecutor. Kim Hee Woo had a pretty good chemistry with all of them.

The 2 Powerful Elders. Just love the scenes between Jo Tae Sub and the chairman of Chunha, Kim Gun Young (dad of Kim Hee Ah). These type of people are just above normal, the way they talk, negotiate and even fight. It’s good to see two talented veteran actors handling the job, simply impressive!

Powerful OST.  I so love this song, Till the End and how it always find it’s way playing on the most thrilling scenes. Sooo good! Also check out the rest of Again My Life OST!

The awesome cast. This drama is hands down filled with talented actors, but I would only focus on two, and that’s…

Lee Joon Ki as Kim Hee Woo – Lee Joon Ki never failed to amaze me, he’s always worth the watch. This is another great drama from this guy. As Kim Hee Woo, I love his grit and perseverance to stand against a giant in power. He exuded intelligence (to get through law school and became a prosecutor), charm (to win over a lot of very important people including the ladies),  strength (to fist fight),  courage (to stand against the powerful) and luck (to live his life again).

Lee Kyung Young as Jo Tae Seob – oh my gosh, I love his guy, he’s just brilliant. So perfect choice for the role! I have watched some of his dramas in the past but this is where his acting really shone. As Jo Tae Sub, he was extremely powerful and this power, he worked meticulously for years to attain. Super wise and calculating. Calm and well-spoken. Impenetrable, unreadable, he always does the right move, he was scary, it was hard to win against this guy. And I think Lee Kyung Young was just awesome in the role, hands down.

Death and birth of power. The ending marks Joe Tae Sub’s downfall. Our hero Kim Hee Woo might not have brought him to justice the way he liked it, but the old guy got the punishment that he deserved. Being alone in that house, considered as the heart of power, with no one to assist him, was the death of him. Sad scene which was beautifully done!

And of course the bonus epilogue, the birth of new power, and a lady this time! What did she say as to why Jo Tae Sub didn’t succeed? It’s because he wanted everything, money and power! Whereas her, just wants the money.

Dislikes: Cringy ending with Kim Hee Woo finally marrying Kim Hee Ah and gathering everyone around including the other two ladies who obviously had a liking to him. This part could have been left out.

That stupid mistake Kim Hee Woo did that almost cost the life of his dear friend Park Sang Man.

KAHI ad placement all over the place!

My Rating: 8.5 stars! (10 as highest)

A Business Proposal

a busines proposal kdramaSummary: Shin Ha Ri works for a food company as a researcher. One day, her life changes when she tries to go on a blind date instead of her close friend, but the guy she dates happens to be Kang Tae Moo, the CEO of the company where she works for.

A Business Proposal Trailer

Genre: Romantic Comedy, Boss Romance, Office, Rich Boy Poor Girl, Chaebol, Contract Marriage, Webtoon
Episodes: 12
Stars: Ahn Hyo Seop as Kang Tae Moo
Kim Se Jung as Shin Ha Ri
Kim Min Gyu as Cha Sung Hoon
Sul In Ah as Jin Young Seo

Likes: This is a pretty straightforward good romantic comedy. With 12 episodes only, it was able to capture our hearts with its really good-looking top and supporting leads and their strong chemistry. Lots of cliches but they kind of worked on its favour. It was definitely funny, cringy at times, and such a joy to watch on our seemingly never-ending rainy days.

My Girl Vibe. That whole pretending she was someone else brought back memories of My Girl, one of the old kdramas that I really like. It was predictable, like oh yeah, that’s gonna backfire. I knew what was coming, but I still liked it. This never gets old.

The Loveteams. I was already good with our top leads doing well when it comes to chemistry, then comes the supporting loveteam! What a bonus! I love both pairs. They all looked great with each other. And not to forget the awesome pair in Ha Ri’s team, Mr. Gye and the team lead, Yeo Ui-Joo! They were so funny.

Strong chemistry. Our main pair, Kang Tae Moo and Shin Ha Ri’s chemistry was just top. I just loved how Tae Moo would look at her with so much admiration. Their bed scene caused a stir for showing some skin, but really, I didn’t mind 😉. Our hot CEO had some sexy back to show anyway.

Meanwhile, Cha Sung Hoon and Jin Young Seo weren’t lagging behind. These two’s chemistry was also awesome. Our girl appeared to be more aggressive, but yes she could, she was hot and a chaebol!

The Worry Dolls. I just like those dolls. They do help in reality. My son has a worry whale, and whenever something’s bothering him, he would cuddle his worry whale. It’s just cute, how the dolls came out to have the same purpose 😊.

OST is Love. The songs are quite good. Reminds of old drama OSTs. Check out A Business Proposal OST!

The Beautiful Cast

Ahn Hyo Seop as Kang Tae Moo – love all his drama but I think this is the first time he really established an amazing chemistry with his leading lady. That workaholic handsome boss role suited him so well. And I like it best when his character got cocky, so adorable.

Kim Se Jung as Shin Ha Ri – I didn’t warm up to her in the beginning. I thought first she looked older. But Shin Ha Ri’s personality was just likeable and fun. And yeah, she was a great kisser too!

Kim Min Gyu as Cha Sung Hoon – hot body and looked great in glasses too! Love his bromance with Ahn Hyo Seop!

Sul In Ah as Jin Young Seo – she’s cute and bubbly! Jin Young Seo is the type of character everyone wants to be friends with.

How to be a good boyfriend according to our awesome Kang Tae Moo…

1. Show off wealth.
2. Get clingy.
3. Be loyal like a dog.

The Ending. One year later with a proposal under the lovely cherry blossoms, I would take that anytime!

Dislikes: What’s with the tacky grandpa house? I love Kang Tae Moo’s grandpa, but he would have deserved a much better house. Don’t you think?

My Rating: 8.5 stars! (10 as highest)

The King’s Affection

the kings affection kdramaSummary: King Lee Hwi has a big secret. She’s a girl who has to live as a king to replace her crown prince twin brother who got killed for pretending to be her. Things get complicated when the king’s new teacher happens to be the guy she once liked.

Trailer: The King’s Affection

Genre:  Period, Romance, Gender Bender, Kings & Princes, Flower Boys, Webtoon
Episodes: 20
Stars: Park Eun Bin as Lee Hwi
Ro Woon as Jung Ji Woon
Nam Yoon Soo as Lee Hyun / Prince Jaeun
Choi Byung Chan as Kim Ga On
Bae Yoon Kyung as Shin So Eun

Likes: Another gender bender favourite, this time taking the role of the king of Joseon himself. A very tricky situation and I thought at first this would come out too shabby, but thanks to the brilliant cast, especially Park Eun Bin, who did such an amazing job as King Lee Hwi! Accompanied by a detailed story of love, friendship, family and loyalty, and with a great focus on character development, this drama exceeded my expectation.

Background story. We had 2 long episodes of how the whole switch had happened and I love how detailed the story was about the young crown prince and his twin sister. It involved many beautiful scenes in the past, but it didn’t end without the heartbreaking ones. This well-told background story clearly gave us a good understanding of the later King’s challenges and sufferings.

I love the girl who took the role of the young crown prince and Dam-i. She was brilliant! Really good casting as I couldn’t even tell if she was a boy or a girl. Her acting skills are quite impressive for such a young age.

Brilliant Cast. As mentioned above, even the young actor was pretty good. Let’s take a look at the rest…

Park Eun Bin as Lee Hwi – Hands down to this lady for being so awesome in this role! In fact, she took our KdramastoWatch 2021 best actress award. She very well deserved that! She commanded strength, courage, power, intelligence and above all beauty. Park Eun Bin managed to be handsome and beautiful at the same time, and I thought that was very impressive. I loved her voice too, not too feminine, could really get away with being a man. Her shooting arrows, sword-fighting, horseback riding, saving someone from tripping may it be a gentleman or a lady, made my poor heart flutter so much 😂.

Ro Woon as Jung Ji Woon – I’m starting to like Ro Woon but to match Park Eun Bin’s height, they could have casted someone a bit shorter. In fairness to Ro Woon, he was quite cute here and he had a good chemistry with Park Eun Bin.

Nam Yoon Soo as Lee Hyun / Prince Jaeun – oh my our poor second lead who of course didn’t up with the lady but at least he got the throne in the end. I like Nam Yoon Soo’s very friendly face. And as Prince Jaeun, his loyalty, love and friendship to the lady king was very commendable.

Animated Intro. You might not have noticed how beautiful this animated intro is, so please check it out here. It’s short but somehow it captures the king’s journey at one glance. Such a pretty watercolour art too!

Undeniably fitting OST.  I just thought the song was perfect for the drama! The romance is there but you can also feel the pain, the longing, and the sadness. Check out One and Only by Lyn, this will bring you back memories.

Favourite Quotes: “A good rain knows its season right.”

“Until the end of my days, my life would have been filled with nothing more than meaningless attempts to stay alive. What king of a life would that be?” -King Lee Hwi

Ending: Loved the epilogue! How beautiful she had become with that hairpin on her hair!

Dislikes: They should stop casting too caucasian-looking-Koreans for historical drama. Their looks just don’t suit well in this era.

My Rating: 8.5 stars! (10 as highest)

Red Sky

red sky kdramaSummary: Hong Chun Gi is a female painter during the Joseon era, who is able to enter Gyungbokgung Palace. Her fate is entwined with Ha Ram, a man who lost his sight but knows how to read the skies and constellations.

Trailer: Red Sky

Genre:  Period, Romance, Fantasy, Kings & Princes
Episodes: 16
Stars: Kim Yoo Jung as Hong Chun Gi
Ahn Hyo Sup as Ha Ram
Gong Myung as Grand Prince Yangmyeong
Kwak Si-yang as Grand Prince Juhyang

Likes: First Impression – beautiful and dreamy! It’s a period drama but the production was clear from the beginning that there’s no historical relevance thus more focused on that dreamy, romantic, fantasy world. There were so many beautiful scenes like my favourite peach orchard, the kiss by the water, the kite flying, the meeting at the pavilion, the sky watching and that heart-thumping palanquin ride!

Gods and Deities. I love how the drama started with the background story of the feuding gods. Although it’s animated, it’s nice to have some visuals of what happened in the past. I mentioned this too in My Roommate is a Gumiho, as they did a similar thing. This additional feature makes the story richer and it really helps expand the imagination (especially for those like me who totally needs some visual help). The drama was generous enough introducing us to the likes of Samshin, the Tiger god and Ma Wang.

Painting Details. Impressed how detailed the drama was when it comes to the paintings, especially how the portrait of the king was made. From the first draft to the outlining and coloring. The focus on the brush strokes was remarkable too. The painting competition was also fun to watch, with how each artist came up with their own interpretation of the themes. Indeed, one’s expression is unique.

Cheon Gi and Ha Ram’s destiny. So, it was all written in the sky then :-)? Anyway, I still like how these two were meant for each other, that even prince YangMyeong didn’t stand a chance. How the two met when they were young was already somehow romantic. The girl couldn’t see but the boy could. When they met again, the lady could see but the gentleman couldn’t. What a mean fate! It was all the goddess fault! Good thing, they were both rewarded in the end, so all good, I’m not bitter anymore.

Gorgeous leads! And you will have to agree with me :-).

Kim Yoo Jung as Hong Chun Gi – this girl is a sageuk queen. She was in the popular The Moon that Embraces the Sun and Moonlight Drawn by Clouds, all with those dreamy titles! I love seeing her in Hanboks, they make her look even more beautiful. As Hong Chun Gi, she did so well in that drama when she lost her eyesight again, just before she would finish the final painting of the king.

Ahn Hyo Sup as Ha Ram – this guy is tall which made him look so good in Hanboks too! And goodness gracious, have you guys seen that part when he was working out shirtless? How can a blind man look so hot like that?! And the red eyes suited him so well too! Ahn Hyo Sup has definitely come a long way from being an idol. He’s handsome and he’s tall with a sexy body to boot. I wish him more great projects to come.

Funniest scene. That moment when Ha Ram, possessed by Ma Wang, went to Cheon Gi’s room to claim her eyes. When that failed to happen, the two ended up sleeping in the same room. Ha Ram went out with only his night clothes and Cheon Gi tried to cover him with her skirt, in which innocence was somehow hard to prove :-).

Dreamy OST. It’s very sageuk romantic, love it! Here’s Red Sky OST. I especially love Is It Me by Baekhyun!

The Ending. Just love endings with epilogues. And they were very generous with it. And yeah, glad to see Kim Yoo Jung kissing his leading man properly. All so grown-up now!

Dislikes: I know the peach orchard was so beautiful like that, but couldn’t help noticing the trees having fruits and flowers at the same time. As far as I know, the flowers will turn into fruits so the two can’t exist at the same time.

They got so lazy with Prince Juhyang who was in prison, that even after 5 years, he still looked the same. Didn’t age, didn’t grow more beard, didn’t get skinny and dirty. Oh well, thought no one would notice.

Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha

hometown cha cha cha kdramaSummary:  Yoon Hye Jin is a dentist who lost her job in Seoul. She visits a coastal town, Gongjin, and decides to put up her own dental clinic. There,  she meets handyman, Hong Doo Sik, who does all sorts of job, and is known in the entire town as Chief Hong.

Trailer: Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha

Genre: Romantic Comedy, Countryside Romance
Episodes: 16
Stars:  Shin Min Ah as Yoon Hye Jin
Kim Sun Ho as Hong Doo Sik
Lee Sang Yi as Ji Sung Hyun

Likes: Such a heartwarming little drama set in a laid-back coastal town, showcasing the townspeople’s daily life; their livelihood, community, camaraderie and a closer look into their personal happiness and struggles. I come from such town so I could totally relate to a lot of situations, especially the gossiping part :-)!

Beautiful Gongjin. Shooting outside Seoul seems a trend these days. Not complaining at all, on the opposite! Love how kdrama promotes local places, especially the coastal areas, which are undoubtedly full of charm. I just fell in love with Gongjin… but wait, oh Gongjin is a fictional town, lol! The place is actually Pohang, South Korea. It does exist, that’s good news! So, we can still check out that prominent, red lighthouse. It really does stand out. I just love the seaside set. I could almost smell the salty and seaweed-smelling air.

The Love Story. How cute is that when our little Hye Jin and Doo Sik already met at the same town long time ago. Those two souls were simply destined to be together, but not without trials and challenges. The characters, in the beginning, were clashing! Hye Jin and Doo Sik were two opposing personalities. One couldn’t let go of her city lifestyle and ambition, while the other one was just happy with what he has around him in the town. I love how the two got together in the end without giving up what matters to them. It’s called compromise! When you love, you compromise and if every relationship has this as its base, then we’ll end up like our Hye Jin and Doo Sik too!

Character-rich Drama. I’m not just talking about the top characters, Hye Jin and Doo Sik, but the supporting as well. Everyone’s character was well-crafted and all had a story to tell. Behind the happy, normal facade of everyone’s life has the struggle and pain that lie within. Hye Jin – the dentist, Doo Sik – the handyman, Gam Ri – the caring grandmother, Cheo Jae – the singer, Hwa Jung – the desperate ex-wife, Nam Suk – the queen of gossip and more. I love all of them and I feel for everyone who’s having a hard time right now saying goodbye to all these remarkable characters.

The Cast. Very well chosen! I love Shin Min Ah, since a very long time, like My Girlfriend is a Gumiho, kind of time. She’s just lovable. Kim Sun Ho captured my heart since Start-Up. I just really hope he gets through this scandal he’s facing right now. We have a lot of veterans in the show like Kim Young-ok who played as Kim Gam-ri and Jo Han-cheol as Oh Cheon-jae, making this drama so solid and worth-watching.

The Catchy Intro. Noticed the animated intro in the beginning of every episode? Love it! Very well done! And of course, it’s accompanied by that La La La Song (Romantic Sunday). Made me always sit back and relax and watch the new episode.

Daebak Confession. How could I forget our girl finally confessing her feelings… Hye Jin to Du Sik: “My feelings keep inflating my heart and it could burst at any second.” Oh la la! And followed by a kisssss! Yay!

The Proposal. Omo, the shoe idea was genius! Just poor Doo Sik, Hye Jin beat him to it, lol!

The Ending. A lovely balance between sad and happy, and the future would remain the same. But at least our couple was facing it with a positive attitude.

Hye Jin: “I’ll be at the front of the boat making sure you have a clear path.”

Doo Sik: “The sea won’t always be this gentle though. We will be met with wind and waves. And even typhoons will come our way.”

Hye Jin: “So what if we get wet soaked in the rain? Who cares if the wind blows a bit, when we’re in the same boat.”

Dislikes: I’m really trying to get used to ad placement, because, you know, everyone has to earn a living and I really want kdrama to live on for a long time but I can’t help getting agitated if it gets too much. On the final episode, they had to create special segments just so they could run ads one last time. Shameless!

The Devil Judge

the devil judge kdramaSummary: Kang Yo Han is a trial judge best known as the Devil Judge, who punishes the mighty rich and powerful through a trial which is broadcasted nationwide. He has his own way of winning the game of justice and he is unstoppable and he resists control from the top power in the country.

Trailer: The Devil Judge

Genre: Legal, Mystery, Revenge
Episodes: 16
Stars: Ji Sung as Kang Yo Han
Kim Min Jung as Jung Sun Ah
Jin Young as Kim Ga On
Park Gyu Young as Yoon Soo Hyun

Likes: Another great and intense drama with no other than Ji Sung, my favourite! Set in a dystopian Korea, a devil judge tries to put the powerful in a situation where they would lose everything they work hard for. The control for power, manipulation and influence by all parties were quite entertaining. It was like watching a game. When you lose in the game, that could mean losing money, your position and even the people dearest to you. I love how our Devil Judge was always likely to win. He always had his way and he always come out as the winner.

Awesome cast! I totally enjoyed the outpour of talented actors in this drama!

Ji Sung as Kang Yo Han – I had no doubt this is gonna be a great performance from Ji Sung. And yes, I was again right! He was awesome as the Devil Judge. He perfected that haughty look of someone in power that could knockdown the most powerful in the country. Great acting, always handsome, and even as a judge, super sexy!

Kim Min Jung as Jung Sun Ah – oh dear, she was terrific! That controlling, powerful personality was written all over her. I love the character, especially how she started and how she became the power that she wanted to be. I love how she admired Kang Yo Han. Toxic but her own way of admiration.

Jin Young as Kim Ga On – he’s come a long long way, our kpop idol Jin Young. Such a great opportunity to be acting next to Ji Sung. But he proved himself worthy. That young judge Kim Ga On was so naive, so much to learn, especially whom to trust. Tragic to lose the love of his life!

Park Gyu Young as Yoon Soo Hyun – love her beauty and her voice! And as the character Soo Hyun, love how she would tease Ga On, asking him always to marry her.

All those powerful personalities like the president, first lady, the justice minister, chairman of Minbo Group, Chairman Seo of the Foundation, Chairman of Saram Media, they were all awesome!

Cute chemistry. I don’t know with you but I find Ga On and Elijah’s chemistry really good. The two were just adorable! Elijah is pretty. Wait a couple of years, and she will be the next IT kdrama girl. Remember her name Jeon Chae-Eun.

Young Kang Yo Han. Another promising star is the boy who portrayed the young Kang Yo Han. Such a pretty boy. I’ll wait for him too :-), name is Moon Woo-Jin.

Powerful OST.  For a kdrama with so much power involved, is worthy of a powerful OST. Here’s The Devil Judge OST.

Favourite Quote: “The most evil is the self-pity of the powerful!”

Defendant memories. When Kang Yo Han was sent into prison and started wearing the prison uniform, it definitely brought back Defendant memories. You should watch this other Ji Sung masterpiece. So good too!

Ending. Our Devil Judge always win. Love the ending!

Dislikes: Nothing to mention.
