Genre: Period, Romantic Comedy
Stars: Jang Dong Yoon as Jun Nok Du
Kim So Hyun as Dong Dong Joo
Kang Tae Oh as Cha Yul Moo
Song Gun Hee as Jun Hwang Tae
Likes: Jang Dong Yoon has to be my very top reason to like this drama. He so nailed Nokdu’s character who has to dress up as a woman and blend with the beautiful gisaengs and widows! Very pretty face, even prettier than Kim So Hyun (no offence to her fans)! Much more, his voice could pass for a woman’s! He was so beautiful in Hanbok even with very less makeup! Impressively, he didn’t have to try hard to look like a lady, he was naturally graceful. And doesn’t he look like Kim Soo Hyun from You Who Came from the Stars? Another plus point!
Another impressive cast that caught my attention was Kang Tae Oh. I’d seen him before in another drama and I thought he had a great potential. He proved it again here. No over-acting, he was naturally good. His facial expressions were just right. In his character as the grand prince, Cha Yul Moo, he was shifting between cunning and ambitious, and sincere and charismatic. Brilliant acting!
Kim So Hyun wasn’t that bad. Although she was lacking the umph as the desirable leading lady, she’s still a great talent. I would have wished her to look more lady-like like in Goblin.
Ah that little girl who has a very impressive country accent, I loved her talk! I didn’t want her to stop talking! She was very funny. And it wasn’t just the talking, she was actually really good in acting, with impressive facial expressions.
Some great scenes in the drama and that includes the saving of Dong Joo when he almost got killed in the raid of the widow village. I also liked the drunken master scene (reminds me of Jackie Chan). The fight scene of Nokdu and Cha Yul Moo at the bamboo forest. The swing moments! The picking of persimmons moment! The field of flowers!
I love the stunning and colourful costumes! The Hanboks were all so beautiful and everyone looked good in them.
Lastly, I got my epilogue and all the cheese that came with it :-)!
Dislikes: Everything looked overly perfect as if in a set.
Chemistry wasn’t the best.
The fighting part in the last episode became ridiculous with lots of interruptions and talking. Just too much talking!
