Likes: I particularly like how they put some details on the Gumiho’s background story. Before Shin Woo Yeo came into being, there was this lonesome fox who asked the mountain deity to turn him into human. Love it even more that it was nicely visualized. It gave that “Long long time ago” kind of feel. Just like the beginning of a fantasy book.

The Real Gumiho Looks. I think this is the only gumiho kdrama wherein they show the real fox looks. It’s normally just those 9 bushy tails. But here, our main girl Lee Dam was right away introduced to the fox behind the handsome Shin Woo Yeo. The scene was hilarious with the giant fox appearing in front of our girl but after the initial shock, Lee Dam managed to warm up to our gumiho.

The Gumiho House. I won’t expect a very handsome, young guy living there but considering Shin Woo Yeo is 900 years old, it was such a fitting house for the character. Love the atrium, although it could get really cold in winter. But who cares, he’s a gumiho afterall.

Different Eras. Like the gumiho background, this drama took time to show what had happened in our main character’s past. I especially like the Joseon period when Shin Woo Yeo got to wear Hanboks, played around with some ladies and finally met his first love. He also met another gumiho who later became his only friend.  The heartbreak from the first love and the strong bond from having a long-time friend gave us all a peek on Shin Woo Yeo’s background.

The Chemistry. It was undeniably good! The reason why I got so hooked. Jang Ki Yong and Lee Hye Ri’s awesome chemistry was so addicting. I couldn’t get enough of this two that I even ended up looking for some behind the scenes video. The kissing scenes were awesome! They didn’t hold back!

The Cast.

Jang Ki Yong as Shin Woo Yeo – the most handsome Gumiho (sorry Lee Dong Wook lol). He was just looking perfect in every angle! So tall and handsome and always looked great in winter coats. Although, his acting is not yet perfect, the chemistry saved it all.

Lee Hye Ri as Lee Dam – her bubbly and bright personality fitted Lee Dam perfectly. Love the way she talked and smiled. She was also quite funny, I enjoyed watching her so much. Of course, her chemistry with Jang Ki Yong, as mentioned, was just daebak!

Kang Han Na as Yang Hye Sun – she’s really a great actress. She nailed her Hye Sun character here like how she nailed her role in Start Up. Loved how she would tease Shin Woo Yeo how amazing the feeling was to be a human, knowing that the latter hadn’t achieved his goal yet. And how cute she was every time she misunderstood Korean idioms.

Love Teams. The additional love teams really added excitement to the show especially Yang Hye Sun and Do Jae Jin. These two were just so cute! The possible romance between the funny Soo Kyung and Jung Suk and the dongsaeng love between Lee Dan and Gye Seo Woo made it all happy and full of love.

Cameos. There was Jung So Min, Kang Mi Na, Go Kyung Pyo, and even the veteran Kim Eung Soo.

Love the OST. The song Door is just love! Here’s My Roommate is a Gumiho OST!

Dislikes: Agressive product placement at the end. I thought the obvious Subway sandwich ad was really bad. Same with the instant coffee. It really messed up the ending.  It would have been perfect without that.

My Rating: 8.5 stars! (10 as highest)
