Trailer: Doom at your Service

Stars: Park Bo Young as Tak Dong Kyung
Seo In Gook as Myul Mang / Kim Sa Ram
Lee Soo Hyuk as Cha Joo Ik
Kang Tae Oh as Lee Hyun Kyu
Shin Do Hyun as Na Ji Na

Likes: I love supernatural being and this one gives me a “Meet Joe Black” vibe! So totally! Why do they have to look so hot? Brad Pitt, Gong Yoo, Lee Dong Wook and now, Seo in Gook! I knew it, it was something I needed to watch no matter how lacking the script was.

The Story. The idea was awesome although I thought it was poorly executed. (I’ll leave the negative one later for the dislike part.) Doom roaming around doing his job (basically being doom), through an unfortunate event meets our heroine, Tak Dong Kyung, who just received the bad news that she’s dying. Her dying wish to end the world summoned Doom to her doorstep. But wait, she actually didn’t mean that wish. Too late, Doom was there to claim what was supposed to be claimed, and she was left with no choice but surrender. Good thing, it was Doom’s birthday that day and he gave her one wish. Of course she wished not to die but if Doom couldn’t claim her soul, the person she loved most would die on her stead. So she came up with an idea of turning Doom to be the person she loves most! Smart eh? Told ya, it’s Meet Joe Black!

The Leads. Love Park Bo Young. I always watch her dramas but Seo In Gook, I think I watched one drama where he was second lead and I didn’t really warm up to him. Glad, I gave him another chance. I was totally smitten by him as Doom!

Park Bo Young as Tak Dong Kyung – She was so cute and funny here. I love the character and the character name. It’s something you remember for a long time. She also looked gorgeous with her outfits. Love her long hair too. Her teasing personality was quite fun.

Seo In Gook as Myul Mang / Kim Sa Ram – He actually really looked handsome. I love that mole under one of his eyes! I think it makes him more gorgeous. He was cute before but I think he looked much better now that he’s older. His mysterious character Myul Mang must be the icing on the cake. I loved his expressionless looks, so cold, so sexy lol! And I shouldn’t forget, his grayish hair color. It really looked good on him! Thus, he just made it to my list of watchable male leads!

The Chemistry. Park Bo Young and Seo In Gook definitely have an awesome chemistry. I love the kiss in the rain, the almost kiss on the beach, the walk through cherry blossoms, the sunset talk and the wishing-upon-the-stars night. These two make me fall in love!

Second Love Team. It was a completely different story which sometimes too distracting to the main, but nevertheless, a nice and sweet addition.

The House Set. Tak Dong Kyung’s house reflected her personality and so does Myul Mang’s. Having them both combined was awesome. How do you feel coming home to your cute, cozy place with an extension to your boyfriend’s impressive mansion’s living room? Of course with your gorgeous boyfriend in it?

The Mystery of the Butterfly.  The deity’s intention was so puzzling. She came at first as someone annoying, meddling with everyone’s life. However, I like how the butterfly story turned out to be.

Favourite Quotes:

“False hope is still hope. Fake love is still love.”

“What is frightening is not living to the fullest.”

“The reduction of the universe to one person, and the expansion of one person to a deity. That is love.”

Addicting OST. As the drama ended, I only not miss the characters but also its moving and addicting tracks. Here’s Doom at Your Service OST!

Ending. Getting a happy ending from something that would seem end disastrously is a huge treat. I also got my epilogue bonus!

Dislikes: As what I mentioned above, it was quite a good story but poorly executed. It was lacking explanations. I would have rather have one storyline (Tak Dong Kyung and Doom) to give more details on how everything come into place than switching back and forth between the main and the second loveteam’s storylines. It was so lacking, it didn’t justify the love that broke realms.

I don’t know why Doom was always wearing something too big for himself. Was it supposed to be a fashion statement? I love Tak Dong Kyung’s outfit, they suit her so well, but Doom’s, nah! His winter coats are too big! The only outfit I like on him was the doctor’s gown!

And why were they suddenly in Jeju? Just like that?

Abyss

abyss kdramaSummary: Go Se Yun and Cha Min are good friends. They both died and were revived though the power of the Abyss. Although they’re up and alive, their looks are different from before. Together, they’ll try to live knowing each other’s secret and hand in hand solve the murder case behind Go Se Yun’s death.

Trailer: Abyss

Genre: Romantic Comedy, Legal, Fantasy, Detective, Rich Boy Poor Girl, Supernatural, Chaebol
Episodes: 16
Stars: Park Bo Young as Go Se Yun
Kim Sa Rang as Go Se Yun (before death)
Ahn Hyo Sup as Cha Min
Ahn Se Ha as Cha Min (before death)
Lee Sung Jae as Oh Young Chul

Likes: Unusual story that involved dying and resurrecting with the use of a big marble-looking object called the Abyss. I was willing to plunge into it obviously. Although there were some holes in the story since the start and left unanswered questions, I found it cute, charming, funny and I admire the effort on the gruesomeness part of the story. Yes, not the usual combination and that’s what made it interesting.

Park Bo Young as Go Se Yun – she was great! Park Bo Young seems to like strong woman roles and what can I say, it suited her very well. It’s also admirable of her to take a role which is actually making fun a bit of her looks.

Ahn Hyo Sup as Cha Min – he really looked so good here! I’ve been comparing his looks from Thirty but Seventeen, he had grown so handsome! I’ve been wondering if he had plastic surgery but I think not, just maybe a bit made up in this drama. His Cha Min role was a more mature one which he also delivered well.

The chemistry. This is one of the points that I extra like in this drama. Never mind the hollowness of the story when the leads had an amazing chemistry. Park Bo Young is for sure older than Ahn Hyo Sup but that didn’t affect the spark. It was having lots of sparks in fact!

The kissing scenes. And because of that chemistry, the kissing scenes were cute and awesome! It was never awkward.

The villain. I thought Oh Young Chul was brilliant! The first episodes were interesting because of him.

Supporting couple. Detective Park Dong Chul and Lawyer Lee Mi Do cheesy scenes were ice breakers. I love this couple! They were always there for our top leads.

The OST. I especially love Shalalalala. Funny scenes normally has this as background music. Fallin and Into the Abyss are also great to listen to.

The Ending. This had my tears flowing, it better be a happy ending. And I think they heard me.

Dislikes: The second to the last episode was quite cheesy but still bearable to watch.

Hae Jin’s screaming was really irritating.

Seo Ji Uk was sill lacking as villain.

Shameless ad placement. Hello Tous and Dyson.

Strong Woman Do Bong Soon

Summary: Do Bong Soon possesses super power that is only passed down the women in her family. She has the strength to stop moving vehicles or move heavy obstacles, can crush and bend anything with her bare hands, can fight strong and trained gangsters but  doesn’t have the ability to control her powers until she meets Ainsoft CEO, Ahn Min Hyuk. With her desire to work as a game developer at Ainsoft, she takes the offer to be the bodyguard of the CEO.

Genre: Romantic Comedy, Fantasy, Thriller, Rich Boy Poor Girl, Supernatural, Boss Romance, Chaebol, Serial Killer
Episodes: 16
Stars: Park Bo Young as Do Bong Soon
Park Hyung Sik as Ahn Min Hyuk
Ji Soo as Gook Doo

Likes: What can I say… I like everything in this drama! It’s super fun to watch when the…

  • Story is a cute romantic comedy but mixed with some crime-solving mystery. A romantic comedy with Park Hyun Sik is most-awaited but adding a well-thought crime story on the side adds icing on the already-delicious cake!
  • Leading man is Park Hyung Sik! I’ve been waiting for him to get the top lead. He’s super charming! And with his previous top performances like in Hwarang, he’d become one of the new anticipated leading men in kdrama. I think the CEO role, Ahn Min Hyuk secured him a place in our heart (at least he’s in mine). I loved his character here, and of course his swagger!
  • Leading lady is super cute but not annoying. First time to watch Park Bo Young and I’m loving her! She’s not just cute, she also knows her craft. Do Bong Soon role suits this lady pretty well!
  • Chemistry is over the top! Oh my gosh, I was giggling all the time. Our 2 lovebirds were just fun to watch! The sparks were everywhere! I totally love the first kiss on the beach. I thought it would turn out cheesy but it really wasn’t. The piano kiss was also daebak! How about the almost-kiss at Do Bong Soon’s room which got interrupted by her brother, that was super funny! And last but not the least, the wedding kiss!
  • Supporting lead is such a waste (in a good way)! Gook Doo oh Gook Doo, why oh why?! Oh well, I bet I’ll see him as lead next.
  • Thugs and colleagues are super funny! I just couldn’t stop laughing at everything. Where do I start… the gangster boss who always tried to look bossy but drank the poo wine or one of his subordinates who first got beaten up by Bong Soon, then got beaten up by Gook Do then got beaten up again losing his teeth and breaking most parts of the body. How about the office with the always awkward secretary Gong but I think nothing beats Dong-Pyung, he was the best!
  • Dong-Pyung kills it! Yes he did and for that I have to give the best actor award in this drama to this guy (which real actor name, I don’t know haha). And he even did 2 roles, the other one is the “beaten-up thug”. He did awesome!
  • Villain is super handsome! Yes he is and he can even pass as a model with that physique and well-chiseled face but well, he opted to be an actor, a villain to our super Bong Soon. Surely, everyone will remember him.
  • Catching the dangerous villain becomes super fun! I love Do Bong Soon and the boys’ plan in catching the elusive Kim Jang Hyun. With police Gook Do chasing him through ship containers and Min Hyuk following him with a flying drone, and of course Bong Soon moving heavy containers to trap him. Finally, checkmate!
  • Pink hoodie becomes a sign of super strength! I bet, I bet… super fans will be wearing the pink hoodie. Love how it represented our petite but strong woman, Do Bong Soon!
  • Strong Woman, Do Bong Soon loves Jo In Sung! I so love her for loving my beloved Jo In Sung! It’s funny how she sets her screensaver to Jo In Sung  and Min Hyuk would change it to his own photo :). Jealousy so cute!
  • OST is as upbeat as the drama! I’m gonna miss Super Power Girl!
  • Bonus scenes are cute, funny and over the top! I’ve got to give it to the Romeo and Juliet scene. Lomeo oh Lomeo! Lol!
  • Cameos are super funny! Yoon Sang Hyun as Charles Go was I think the best!
  • Ending is all what we wanted! What can be better to a proposal under the cherry blossoms but then we still get to see the wedding and when you thought it’s over, here still comes the babies!

Dislikes: I can’t think of any right now. I’m still enjoying it!

My Rating: 8.5 stars! (10 as highest)
