Likes: This a nice break from all the gumiho kdramas I’ve watched recently. It’s rare to see a vampire drama and with Taecyeon  as the main lead I was all convinced with this one.

Reincarnation theme. It’s been a common theme this year with other popular kdramas like Durian’s Affair and See You in My 19th Life which have similar themes, good storylines, and this interisting switch between the past and the present. Heartbeat also shows the past love and life of our main lead, Sun Woo Hyeol way back in the Joseon era when he was with his beloved, then continued to live in Japanese colonial era waiting for his love to be reincarnated. The emphasis on the past settings gave the show depth and helped create a better, more meaningful character developments.

Taecyeon as Sun Woo Hyeol – he’s the reason I watched the show. Vampires have to be super good-looking and he passed the requirement. His performance in Vincenzo was brilliant but his character was quite dark. I’ve been wanting to see him in a protagonist role and I think our handsome and romantic Sun Woo Hyeol is the answer. He’s definitely one hot vampire!

Won Ji An as Joo In Hae – It took me a while to warm up to her. Was it her acting? Maybe. But eventually, it happened and since then I was always looking forward to the next episode. I still believe though she could have done better, but anyway, the next week point was definitely a plus to her…

That vampire kiss. So yeah, I was skeptical with the leading lady until that jaw-dropping kiss in the air! Of course, I give most credit to Sun Woo Hyeol for being a super cool kisser, but that was the moment when Joo In Hae made a very important connection with him. And yeah, there was definitely chemistry! I don’t know how many times I repeated that beautiful kissing scene, it was awesome and it’s stuck in my head!

Beyond the looks and likeness. I love the emphasis on the person within versus the person who totally looks like the one he previously loved. Our dear vampire, as cool as he already was, followed his heart, even without his heartbeat, to find who he’s real love was. And he did in the end.

The vampire comedic relief. I think it wouldn’t have been this fun without Sun Woo Hyeol’s vampire friends. Kyu Pil and Byung Hee brought a lot of laughters for the show. Loved how these two slept like bats inside the wardrobe 😄. Also love the vampire bromance between these two and Sun Woo Hyeol. Bromance that lasts for hundred years!

That intro music. It’s addictive and what better way to start an episode. I also like the animation, so cute and matching. Check it out.. Heartbeat Opening

Favourite quote. “Time is a relative concept. 100 years could feel like a day while a day could feel like 100 years.”

Ending. Not really so happy how it ended. The last two episodes were a bit draggy only for our main character to actually die! He made a promise though that he’ll be reincarnated and that he’ll be the first one to find her. Hm, I still have to get used to this reincarnation concept. But all in all, not bad so giving it a…

Vincenzo

vincenzo kdramaSummary: After adopted at age 8, Vincenzo lives with a Mafia family in Italy and becomes a trusted consigliere. He is good at what he does but after his Italian mafia father dies, he flies back to Korea for a personal mission. He meets Hong Cha Young, a lawyer, gets to work with her and eventually falls in love with her.

Trailer: Vincenzo

Genre: Action, Black Comedy, Legal, Revenge
Episodes: 20
Stars: Song Joong Ki as Vincenzo Casano
Jeon Yeo Bin as Hong Cha Young
TaecYeon as Jang Joon Woo

Likes: So far, this is the second black comedy drama on my watched list. Only the second, yes. It’s not that I don’t like this genre, dramas this kind don’t come very often. I was so thrilled to watch Vincenzo. It started off quite funny. It’s a mafia drama but I didn’t see it getting too dark especially with Song Joong Ki’s beautiful and gentle face. Vincenzo’s character development was gradual – stretched up to 20 episodes with over an hour per episode. I could just see at first, a very good-looking, well-dressed, well-groomed, young man who only gave an impression that you have to look awesome to be a mafia. Episodes later, Vincenzo became cunning. More episodes later, he was ready to kill, but you know our Vincenzo didn’t just kill. He had his way, his style and I warn you, Vincenzo delivered some chilling moments at the end.

Vincenzo styling. I won’t be surprised if the next trend in Korea will be dressing up like Vincenzo. Who would have thought an Asian would look so damn hot in classic Italian suits! And don’t forget the hairstyle! Pomade will surely make a comeback 😄.

Camera works and directing. I could see some Scorsese actions here. It was well done! I also like the focus on emotions both villains and Vincenzo himself. Capturing Vincenzo’s angriest face was everything, and he didn’t even say a word!

The Inzaghi moment. What was your favourite Deus ex machina moment? There were so many instances but my fave was when Inzaghi (the pigeon) saved Vincenzo from almost getting killed by other mafias. Oh, hail Inzhagi! Gave me such a chuckle. I’ll start feeding birds from now on.

Geumga Plaza Cassano family. I’m starting to miss all of them. So many comic reliefs in this drama, I’m glad. They were all funny but my fave is Vincenzo’s fan club leader.

Vincenzo and mum moment. I love that one on one moment but such a tear-jerker! I knew she would end up as a sacrificial lamb but glad she had a closure with her son.

Vincenzo as a gay lover. 110% passed as one! Poor gay chaebol / Mr. Banker who fell for Vincenzo’s charm. But you could also see why. He was so radiant in his outfit riding that horse.

Corn Salad. It’s actually far off but perhaps if you pronounce it the Korean way, corn salad will come close to consigliere!

2PM members cameo. 2PM’s Nickhun and Chansung appeared as mafias trying to kill each other on a TV drama Jang Joon Woo (Taecyeon) was watching. If you don’t know yet, Taecyeon is one of the members of kpop band 2PM.

The protagonist…

Song Joong Ki as Vincenzo Casano – I had doubts at first with Song Joong Ki as a mafia but damn he delivered! He always looked frail (maybe because he’s so fair-skinned) and skinny but he does fight scenes so well. Like he could really throw someone out of the window. He also does calm face really well. And was so impressed with his angriest look. Of course, he looked gorgeous in those Italian suits and love him when he speaks Italian especially when he curses.

Jeon Yeo Bin as Hong Cha Young – got to admit I found her annoying in the beginning but then realized she was just really true to her sleazy lawyer role. When Hong Cha Young changed sides, I started warming up to her. She was becoming prettier. She could still be annoying though if your her enemy and she had to be, as she was fighting against more annoying people.

The villains…

TaecYeon as Jang Joon Woo – Simply impressed. I remember him in Dream High 1, which was a long time ago, he was good but didn’t really leave a lasting impression. I’m glad he didn’t give up on acting because he was just smashing in his role here. He was simply psychopathic here! Awesome Taecyeon!

Kim Yeo Jin as Choi Myung Hee – I wasn’t surprise at all. Kim Yeo Jin is one of the really good veteran actors. As Choi Myung Hee, she was another level. My gosh, that lady was just sooo annoying!

Dislikes: The Swarovski ad placement was subtle but Kopiko was everywhere!

I was disappointed why Vincenzo didn’t take that chance to help Jang Han Suk stop Jang Joon Woo. They could have together stopped Jang Joon Woo from firing the gun and hitting Hong Cha Young and eventually killing Jang Han Suk. Vincenzo was just kind of frozen on his spot. For someone who was quick in reacting, he failed miserably there. Oh well, they desperately need a another sacrificial lamb.

Seven First Kisses

Summary: Soo Jin, a receptionist at Lotte Department Store gets rewarded by a fairy/goddess for returning the latter’s lost item. Soo Jin’s birthday wish is to kiss someone but she doesn’t only get the chance to kiss one but seven very popular faces!

Genre: Web Drama
Episodes: 8
Stars: Lee Cho Hee as Min Soo Jin
Choi Ji Woo as Goddess
Lee Joon Ki as Church oppa
Park Hae Jin as Romantic Boss
Ji Chang Wook as Sexy secret agent
Kai as Charming Student
Taecyeon as Sweet rich guy
Lee Jong Suk as Famous Actor
Lee Min Ho as Free Spirit Traveler

Likes: It’s the shortest drama I have ever watched but the most popular-actor-packed one. It’s like a sweet treat during the holidays!

Let’s talk about the gorgeous oppas in this drama… starting with…

Lee Joon Ki – As usual in his best element… charismatic with a gorgeous face! He took the role of an IT millionaire who knew our girl Soo Jin when they were still young. Flaws, hm, IT millionaires don’t normally look as gorgeous like him and especially don’t pose in magazines like a pro model :).

Park Hae Jin – Very handsome, calm and he’s got the snob looks. He was Soo Jin’s workplace manager which is more realistic than the other roles. Of all of the oppas, he actually had the best chemistry with our girl. The almost-kissing scene was the least awkward of them all!

Ji Chang Wook – Always full of action and thrill, that’s our Chang Wook oppa. As a sexy, handsome and wounded agent, he rekindled romance with Soo Jin who was a former agent herself.

Kai – young, fresh and playful, Kai took the role of Soo Jin’s former language student. I love their chemistry! A real kiss would have been perfect when they were dancing.

Taecyeon – gorgeous, handsome face with a buffed physique! He took the role of a chaebol willing to give up everything for Soo Jin. I thought it was sweet! Taecyeon’s episode was the funniest with the future mother-in-law opposing the love between the 2!

Lee Jong Suk – ah this guy is just sexy! I think he was the most kissable of them all! Love his outfit and his charisma! Our Soo Jin, would have been suffering from weak knees near this guy. His role was a popular actor which made him more intimidating.

Lee Min Ho – last, most-awaited and a possible first kiss for our Soo Jin. He took the role of a travel book author who happened to drop by the store. But really, what happened to the first kiss?! Hm, the weakest of them all.

Lee Cho Hee as Min Soo Jin – finally our girl, Soo Jin! I like the fact that they have someone who’s not super pretty for the role. She was pretty enough, good comedienne and deserving at least one kiss from one of our gorgeous oppas (which never happened). She had the best chemistry with Park Hae Jin! Would watch a drama with the 2 of them in it.

Dislikes: I can’t dislike it for being short since it’s a webdrama and it’s supposed to be that way but I dislike it for being a heavy advertisement of Lotte Department Store.

My Rating: 7 stars! (10 as highest)

Dream High 1

dream high 1 kdramaSummary: A story about a group of students at Kirin High who inspite of individual shortcomings tried their best to achieve their dreams of becoming stars.

Genre: Romantic Comedy, School, Teens, Coming of Age
Episodes: 16
Stars: Bae Suzy as Go Hye Mi
Kim Soo Hyun as Song Sam Dong
Taecyeon as Hyun Shi Hyuk
Ham Eun Jung as Yoon Baek Hee
Jang Woo Young as Jason
IU as Kim Pil Sook

Likes: I desperately needed a teenie drama after Bridal Mask. There I got it!

I started being a fan of kpop, oh well, not too long ago! I’m glad I am otherwise I won’t have really enjoyed this. It felt like an insider to be able to identify all these idols, lol! I’m loving 2PM right now so it was really perfect timing to watch!

Of course, I enjoyed the music! I love Dream High, very catchy! I especially liked the performance of Genie (Girls Generation), got me soo excited! I never thought it’s one of the girls’ older songs :).

The love teams made me giggle! Let’s start with Jason and Pil Sook! They were just adorably cute! The karaoke date, the lollipop, the post-its! Another favorite is Teacher Kang and Shi! I love how teacher Shi transformed from being strict and terrorizing into a cute (wearing floral hair clip) and in love person.

Kim So Hyun! So this was the drama that made you big. I watched The Moon that Embraces the Sun first so I already knew how good he is. He looked very young and thin here but he definitely delivered!

Taecyeon is simply sexy!!!

The story is good even with this kind of ending, it’s still good!

Dislikes: No matter how I put it, the ending was sad. It made me sad when I went to bed, then made me sad again when I woke up :(. First I thought Ji Guk will end up with Hye Mi. Okay they didn’t but I got over that quickly. I still have Sam Dong but boy Sam Dong left and pursued his dream! And if I got it right, it’s already 2018 and he hasn’t been back yet. Oh *sob*!

What happen to the kiss of Hye Mi and Ji Guk inside the ferris wheel. Dang I thought these 2 would really end up together!

Characters that annoyed me! Sorry Hye Mi but you were really annoying in the beginning. Baek Hee too when she was trying to act as the victim (vs Hye Mi) so other students would sympatize with her. And they could just leave out Hye Mi’s dad!
